HOUSTON AREA WOMEN'S CENTER Manager of Marketing Communications in Houston, Texas

Being a Manager of Marketing Communications will be a communications generalist with a passion for storytelling, social media, and media relations. At HAWC, we work on the frontlines with survivors, we work to build a safer community, and we work to eradicate violence. There are stories around every corner here, and they need telling. Survivors are at the heart of what we do, and we need a passionate storyteller to help us build awareness, inspiration, and motivation about our brand and mission. In the movement to end domestic and sexual violence, the stories of survivors should drive the way we communicate about the issues and solutions.

The position is responsible for the implementation and delivery of the marketing and communication strategies for HAWC including digital marketing, digital assets, media relations, internal and external stakeholder engagement, and brand management. The position will collaborate with other departments and organizational stakeholders to support key strategic objectives. It will strive to tell the story of HAWC, our clients, and the mission to end domestic and sexual violence.

Your Schedule:

  • Full Time
  • Monday - Friday 9am-6pm
  • Two days onsite and three days remote
  • Work Model: hybrid
  • Local Travel:less than 1%

Our Total Compensation Package:

  • Starting Salary Range: $80,000annually.
  • Pay schedule bi-monthly

Qualifications

The Requirements We are Seeking:

  • Bachelors degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or social services
  • A minimum of five years of experience in various marketing and communications disciplines, such as brand management, digital marketing, media relations, and website/social channel management in addition to the technology applications and tools to support these functions.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Computer savvy and able to learn new applications and systems quickly.
  • Texas drivers license with a good driving record; reliable transportation; ability to travel to off-site locations utilizing personal transportation.

What you Deliver in this role:

Digital Marketing/Digital Platforms

  • You will develop storytelling opportunities within the organization to share on digital platforms.
  • Research, write, edit, and distribute content for publication on social media, e-blasts, online monthly newsletters, blogs, partner/third-party publications, and other media.
  • You will oversee all social media channels and implement strategies to increase engagement by creating and posting high-impact content (organic and paid) and social campaigns, reviewing performance, and leveraging analytics.

Media Relations

  • You will internally point person managing all aspects of media relations: responding and coordinating reactive and proactive media opportunities, managing he internal spokesperson program, and developing and distributing media materials.
  • You will managemedia relationships, distribution lists, tracking reports, and log coverage.

Account Management

  • You will collaborate with the Development department including fundraising campaigns and special events, digital and print collateral, and various marketing communications activity.
  • You will collaborate with various internal departments, such as HR and Programs, and external stakeholders with marketing communications solutions as needed.
  • You will support internal communications: organizational news, important media coverage, executive, industry, operational, and employee/HR-related information.
  • You will manage and respond to external inquiries and HAWC general website mailboxes.

Support Internal Communications

  • You will organizenews, important media coverage, executive, industry, operational, and employee/HR-related information.

Brand Management

  • You will manage the HAWC Brand internally and externally: all aspects of the visual identity, messaging, and positioning.
  • You will oversee the production and design of HAWC collateral, such as brochures, social/digital graphics, flyers, banners, development appeals, annual reports, promotional and marketing items, and special event needs.

Department Administration

  • You will manage all marketing communications applications and software subscriptions and data, and department vendors.
  • You will manage HAWC assets, the labeling, and storage of photography, images, graphics, video, and b-roll.
  • You will manage distribution lists; track, log, and manage department data.
  • You will have internal meetings and work sessions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
