Installation, configuration, updating, repair, and removal of emergence electronics and/or equipment in City vehicles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Installation, configuration, updating, and removal of consoles, controllers, antennas, horns, computer systems, video systems, radio/transmitter systems, sirens, auto body light systems, light bar systems, license plate readers, docking stations, radars, cameras, gun racks, and other first responder-required electronics and/or equipment in City vehicles.
• Preventive maintenance, and repair of radios, computers, sirens, light bars, cameras, license plate readers, malfunctioning systems, and other first responder-required electronics and/or equipment in City vehicles.
• Operates power/hand tools and electronic equipment.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• May perform miscellaneous activities such as pick-up and delivery of parts and supplies.
• All duties and responsibilities may not be included in the above job descriptions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position routinely requires lifting of moderately heavy items, such as equipment and boxes (up to 40 pounds) and/or very long periods of walking on rough surfaces on a routine basis.
There are routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness, and
unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a high school diploma or a GED.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Six months of electronics experience is required.
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and comply with the City of Houston’s policy on driving.
PREFERENCES
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
Preference shall be given to applicants with experience in Public Safety Emergency Vehicle equipment installation.
