Honeywell Project Development Engineer in Houston, Texas

Honeywell Performance Material and Technologies is seeking an experienced Project Development Engineer in their Morris Plains, NJ location to work interactively with the business, R&D and plant groups, to identify improvements and expansions to our existing product line as well as develop new product processes that will sustain and grow our business. The team will ensure that Honeywell's Process Standards and Procedures are met during the development, design, construction phases. The Project Development Engineer will also provide process technology support to operating plants.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partners and advises Performance Material and Technologies Business Areas and New Technology Development to meet and enhance the formulation of their goals, objectives and Strategic Plans by integrating a wide range of information into various modeling tools thereby gaining consensus and enhancing the "decision making" process.

  • Provide the full spectrum of Project Development services to all Performance Material and Technologies Business Areas and New Technology Development including: conceptual Capital Cost Estimates, Site Selection, Option Sorting, Economic Evaluation, Technology Assessment, Acquisition and Competitive Analysis, Make vs. Buy vs. Toll Analysis and R&D coordination.

  • Manage the Project Definition/Front End Loading phases of major Performance Material and Technologies Business Areas projects including: gaining consensus and approvals for all project scope issues, leading the preparation/review of definitive capital cost estimates and project budgets, managing the efforts of Engineering Firms employed for these services, conducting Value Engineering and performing Project Risk Assessment, Schedule Development, Project Cost Reporting, Forecasting and Control.

  • Acquire and maintain experience and knowledge of Performance Material and Technologies Business Areas and New Technology Development.

  • Develop and leverage a strong working partnership with the Business Area, R&D, Asset Management, Engineering functions.

  • Skillful application of standard work processes (functional excellence), including supporting CPMP (Honeywell's Capital Project Management work Process), engineering design standards, and engineering operating procedures.

  • Manage multiple teams and programs simultaneously.

  • Timely and effective communications with all levels of the organization.

  • Excellent people and project management skills – coaching, motivating, team building, and enhancing the success of high performing teams.

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

Basic Qualifications

  • Engineering BS Degree required.

  • 5+ years of experience of increasingly related responsibilities in proposal management, project development, process/project engineering, or front-end business alternatives analysis required.

    Additional Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Chemical Engineering preferred.

  • Industrial or chemical manufacturing/design experience.
