Schlumberger PSD Student Intern in Houston, Texas

The Well Engineer Intern located in Houston, TX is responsible for ensuring well engineering and operations support for one or more rigs or well sites. They are tasked with developing and delivering optimized technical well designs for areas of responsibility, including preparation of Well Proposals, Basis of Designs, Well Programs(i.e., Drilling, Completion, Workover), project budgets, and End of Well Reports. They perform Assistant Well Site Leader duties according to the Well Engineer Training Program development requirements. They also provide risk management project support and apply lessons learned to improve the well program and provide real-time support to the project operations as required. The position is expected to identify opportunities for continuous improvement of service delivery, well program, well operations, and formally communicate findings.

  • This is a one-year internship.

  • Provide technical and operational support throughout the project execution process.

  • Prepare well schedule, budget estimates, and project well control briefing. Support multiple PL operations in a collaborative optimized program design. Assist in incident response, recovery, and incident investigation.

  • Understand, communicate, and implement new technologies for the project. Analyze job execution versus design and formally capture design improvements and optimization opportunities.

  • Participate in selection and evaluation of service companies, suppliers, and equipment. Ensure proper communication with relevant parties (i.e., Customer, PLs, third-parties, etc.) Participate in HARCs and other risk assessment methodology.

  • Forecast and plan medium- and long-term needs to meet program requirements Anticipate operational changes and needs and revise the plan accordingly.

  • Manage and monitor daily operational progress (i.e., scope, time, cost and quality) versus plan and provide recommendations for improvements utilizing new technology options where appropriate.

  • Evaluate results versus objectives, focusing on service companies and key contractors performance.

  • Perform engineering studies to solve recurring well problems and initiate engineering corrective actions for continuous improvement.

  • Attend critical operations at the wellsite as necessary

  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering

  • Administration and organizational skills

  • Field or operational experience

  • Sales and marketing
