The Buckingham RN-Registered Nurse Supervisor in Houston, Texas

*2p-10p M-F / Full Time with Benefits

*Weekends / Part-time with PTO

Position Summary:

The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing or Assistant Director of Nursing with the operations of the health care setting in accordance with current federal, state, and local regulations and standards. This position assists with establishing and implementing policies and procedures. This person will direct, oversee, and supervise staff; reports, coordinates with other departments, and ensures quality Resident care.

Responsibilities:

  • Support mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.

  • Manages the on-call phone from Friday evening to Monday morning. Responsible for managing coverage for callouts during this time.

  • Responsible during the shift for the total nursing care of residents in the community.

  • Orient staff and train on policies and procedures.

  • Observes medication pass and narcotic count practices.

  • Assists in re-ordering medication, medication care audits, cleans medication room and ensures all new medication orders are faxed to the pharmacy

  • Actively communicate and work with Families and Residents to assist in safe, respectful, and appropriate transitions to other care.

  • Develop methods for coordination of the Skilled Nursing department’s services with other Resident services, to ensure the continuity of the Residents' total regimen of care.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse License from the State of Texas.

  • At least 2 years of progressively responsible supervisory work experience in the long-term care industry or related field preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience with long term care regulations.
