Make your mark in Global Loss Prevention - Power Generation and Renewable Energy

The Senior Account Risk Engineering Specialist will perform both account risk assessments and field inspections of Construction accounts including one or more of the following occupancies: Construction All-Risk, Erection All-Risk. Communicate findings to underwriters to help them with their decision making. Work with our clients to establish loss control services, understand findings of loss control visits and implement loss control recommendations. Contribute to organizational projects to enhance the effectiveness of the team.

  • Analyse Construction projects and investigate the potential property and construction exposures for insurance purposes;

  • Be a leader in Construction reviews and provide engineering support to underwriters for our large portfolio of construction policies;

  • Be an autonomous operator to ensure projects and reviews are delivered in accordance with our operating guidelines;

  • Manage the Client Service Process (CSP) including service plan development, service co-ordination, report reviews, stewardship meetings with our core clients;

  • Produce detailed Account Summary Reports (ASR’s) for underwriting purposes to convey understanding of exposure for Construction Projects;

  • Undertake field surveys to monitor the progression of construction projects at core milestones within a programme;

  • Liaise with clients to mitigate exposures during construction project and develop relationships with core clients. The goal is to improve risk quality for our insured accounts.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Civil Engineering bachelor degree qualified with a minimum of 10 years' of relevant experience;

  • Preferable to have experience within the Construction industry;

  • Strong grounding in Geotechnical design elements for construction;

  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (required). Good level of verbal and written English (required).

  • Strong presentation skills;

  • Preferable experience of detail design and execution phases of construction;

  • Preferable to have working knowledge of Internationally recognized fire protection standards (e.g. NFPA Codes) as well as local asset protection standards (required).

  • Preferable to be trained to assess Highly Protected Risk (HPR);

    Job Responsibilities:

  • Organisation - You need to be able to prepare for the visit, get travel sorted out, know what to expect when you get there (multiple site experience, audit process and accustomed to regular travel);

  • Presentation - You need to be able to make a good initial impact so the people you are meeting with will be respectful of the work you are doing;

  • Assessment - You need to be able to have broad enough knowledge to identify or elicit the key risk issues at the site;

  • Influence - You need to encourage good practice and encourage improvement where needed;

  • Communication - You need to have good professional written and verbal communication skills to get the right message across to client, underwriters and brokers - preferably free of bias;

  • Timeliness is essential throughout the work phases. - All of the above steps done efficiently (computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, efficient research method)

  • Individuals need a basic understanding of insurance (unlikely to have this so training is required) sound engineering knowledge over a good spectrum with expert knowledge in at least one discipline AND business savvy at a senior level. (it is important that individuals can work alone early so they need an industry comfort zone; I would be a bit concerned about a generalist that had never done any real engineering but can present well.)
