Summary
The primary purpose of the Senior Communications Specialist, Search Engine Optimization, position is to support MD Anderson's SEO strategy by helping to define, manage and implement tactics that elevate MD Anderson's overall presence in natural search, as well as educate institutional web editors about SEO best practices.
Key Functions
Site Optimization:
Implements tactics to optimize website content and improve search performance.
Performs outreach to other organizations in support of backlink strategy.
Project Management:
Works with internal customers to research, recommend and implement tactics designed to deliver top placement within natural search results.
Collaborates with Digital Experience team on web development projects related to site architecture improvement and other technical factors.
Attends regular meetings with agency partner(s) and is available for consultation, as needed.
Strategic Counsel:
- Acts as an SEO consultant to MD Anderson employees developing digital content on behalf of the institution.
Writing/Editing:
- Writes new and revises existing web content that aligns with natural search best practices.
Measurement:
- Uses enterprise analytics and SEO tools to monitor keyword rankings, page performance, competitive intelligence and other relevant performance metrics.
Education
Required : Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field.
Experience
Required : Four years of experience in public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field. With preferred degree, two years of required experience.
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
