GE Vernova Senior SCADA Engineer in Houston, Texas

Job Description Summary

The Senior SCADA Engineer works as part of the NPI Controls Engineering Team in an international environment and will be responsible for the conception, design, build and delivery of SCADA and secure networking solutions for the Solar & Storage Solutions business. This role will drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes for projects implementation and conduct activities to better understand or ultimately meet the expectations of the customer.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with customer and peers to create holistic solutions to meet business and customer objectives.

  • Create architecture and design documentation for data acquisition and control solutions.

  • Utilize cyber security secure products and methods to ensure protection of critical customer infrastructure. Employ industry standard communications methods such as: IEC61850, DNP3, Modbus ethernet interfaces to numerous GE and third party devices.

  • Configuration and factory acceptance testing of multiple electronic devices, gateways, network switches, firewalls and routers to create solutions.

  • Support customer installation of equipment including site acceptance testing and commissioning at industrial or electrical utility customer facilities.

  • Provide technical leadership and interface with Proposal Management, Cost Estimating, Partners, Customers, GE Product Engineering, Sourcing, Engineering sub-contractors. Includes technical direction and coaching of other engineers. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline and analytical thinking and technical experience to execute policy/strategy.

  • Has knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market

  • Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.

  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Science or in STEM from an accredited college or university.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience with SCADA systems

Desired Characteristics

  • Expertise in industrial HMI platforms and UI/UX design

  • Experienced with HTML5 and/or React/JavaScript

  • Experienced with database creation e.g. SQL

  • Knowledge of or familiarity with GE’s MarkVIe product family and of GE’s Cimplicity software (SCADA).

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

  • Ability to document, plan, execute programs.

  • Knowledge of communication networks (copper, FO) and their design, SW and Hardware.

  • Familiarity with standard industrial protocols such as OPC-UA and Modbus, as well as standard messaging protocols such as MQTT.

  • Advanced Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.

  • Experience working cross-functionally between Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Product Management, etc.

  • Ability to summarize and communicate complex technical information.

  • Strong problem analysis and resolution skills.

  • Curiosity, passion for excellence, drive to deliver on-time.

  • Can present technical plans in voice of customer.

  • Self-start attitude is strongly requested.

Position open in Schenectady, NY and Houston, TX

The salary range for this position is 111,200.00 - 148,300.00 - 185,400.00 USD Annual USD. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for [a performance bonus of 15%.
