Robert Half Staff Accountant in Houston, Texas

Description

We are looking for a diligent Sr. Staff Accountant to join our team in Houston, Texas. This role will primarily involve preparing financial statements in accordance with GAAP, conducting detailed financial analysis, as well as managing and reconciling general ledger accounts. You will also be expected to assist in the preparation of tax filings and regulatory reports.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

• Conduct detailed financial analysis to support decision-making processes.

• Prepare and review budget vs. actual reports and provide variance analysis.

• Assist in the preparation of tax filings and regulatory reports.

• Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.

• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data through regular audits and reviews.

• Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.

• Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts.

• Oversee and ensure timely processing of invoices and payments.

• Monitor accounts receivable balances and follow up on outstanding accounts.

• Implement and maintain effective cash flow management practices.

• Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard the company’s assets.

• Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

• Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.

• Implement best practices in accounting and financial reporting.

Requirements

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role.

• Proficiency in accounting software, preferably with NetSuite or Oracle.

• Demonstrated expertise in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Solid understanding of bank reconciliations and general ledger management.

• Experience with journal entries and month-end close processes.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent organizational abilities with a problem-solving attitude.

• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information.

• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.

• High level of professionalism and ethical standards.

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Knowledge of current financial regulations and accounting principles.
