WM Strategic Sourcing Manager in Houston, Texas

I. Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our Supply Chain department as a Strategic Sourcing Manager - Technology . This role is responsible for overseeing and executing strategic sourcing and category management for a portfolio of enterprise technology categories. These categories may encompass Information Technology (e.g., software, infrastructure, hardware, cloud services, cybersecurity, professional services) and Operational Technology (e.g., industrial automation, control systems, operational equipment).

As part of this role, you will develop and implement innovative sourcing strategies, negotiate and manage contracts, and foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers. Success in this role will be demonstrated by achieving cost savings, driving category growth, and improving supplier relationships.

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in technology procurement, advanced negotiation skills, strong business and financial acumen, and exceptional organizational and time-management abilities.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To excel in this position, candidates must be able to perform the following duties with excellence. Other minor tasks may also be assigned:

Develop and execute category-specific sourcing strategies, achieving measurable and sustainable year-over-year savings.

Lead the sourcing, negotiation, and contracting processes for materials, components, and services across assigned technology categories, ensuring best-in-class value, quality, and delivery.

Drive commercial contract negotiations, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for technology acquisitions.

Identify, evaluate, and engage qualified suppliers for high-quality products and services through requests for proposals (RFPs), bids, and other procurement processes.

Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, resolving material issues and ensuring alignment on performance standards and delivery expectations.

Collaborate with cross-functional departments to address product changes, resolve issues, and align future strategic objectives.

Participate in strategic planning sessions to influence long-term operational and procurement decisions.

Stay current with industry trends and enhance supervisory and technical skills by attending relevant training and professional development activities.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

This role is an individual contributor and does not currently supervise or manage employees.

IV. Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following qualifications to be considered for this role: Must live and work in the U.S.

A. Education and Experience

Education :

Bachelor's Degree (accredited) or, in lieu of a degree, a High School Diploma or GED with 7 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred : Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Technology, or a related field.

Experience :

Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement.

Preferred : At least 3 years of experience in strategic sourcing or category management with a focus on technology procurement.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

None required.

C. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

In-depth knowledge of IT and technology procurement, including software licensing and contract negotiations.

Strong commercial acumen with expertise in negotiating master agreements, license agreements, and other complex contracts.

Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build consensus across various business units.

Exceptional communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
