  • * General Description:

Provide mentorship, training, and technical assistance to staff in the classifications of DVOP functions. Monitor staff in the development of their roles through the on-boarding process and continued development phase of their career. Serves as the Subject Matter Expert in the development of training and performance improvement as needed. Coordinate with the District Manager and District Supervisor on areas of staff development, staff performance, and implementation of new roles and responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Provide staff development in the DVOP classification.

· Mentor staff in the areas of DVOP functions such as; Case Management, Employment Plans, Veteran Outreach, Veteran Case Management System, etc.

· Serves as the Subject Matter Expert for the development of District Training, to include the development of class materials.

· Serves as an integral part of the training of new staff, and certifier for the 30, 60, 90-day training requirements.

· Conduct Individualized Careers Services to qualified veterans.

· Create and develop Employment Plans.

· Assist staff in the development of materials such as; Workforce partner training, development of action steps, Labor Market Information, Workshops, etc.

· Assist staff in the development of their proficiency with the Work in Texas System (WIT), and Veterans Case Management System (VCMS).

· Serves as a facilitator during District and Program training events.

· Must be willing to work hours other than 8 to 5, including nights and weekends.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:Associate degree from an accredited college with major course work insocial work/social sciences or a related field. Experience may be substituted for education on a year by year basis.College Transcripts are required, it is preferred they be attached to the application.

Minimum Experience: At least one (1) year as a DVOP with Veterans Employment Services. Applicant must be of the same classification (DVOP) as the position applying for, with a high level of performance and proven success.

Additional Requirements:A valid Texas Driver’s License must be provided within 90 days of hire. * * Preferred Experience and Qualification: Two (2) years as a Veterans Career Advisor with Veterans Employment Services.

    • Knowledge of English language enough to compose correspondence, summarize information and write case narratives.
    • Knowledge of counseling techniques, assessments, career planning and interviewing techniques.
    • Knowledge of community resources and supportive services.
    • Knowledge of functions and services provided in the American Job Centers.
    • Knowledge of Significant Barriers to Employment and Case Management Process.
    • Skills in developing and presenting training materials.
    • Skills in operation of computers and in applicable computer software.
    • Ability to assess Veteran needs and to coordinate Veteran services.
    • Ability to organize, monitor, document and follow-up with case managed clients.
    • Ability to consistently present a professional image to customers, the public and co-workers.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to train others individually, in small groups, or large audiences.
  • * *Environmental & Physical Conditions: * Normal office work environment, mostly sedentary in nature. May involve walking; standing; remaining stationary for long periods of time; pulling and pushing; kneeling, stooping, and bending; and safely lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds. Work involves extensive telephone usage and repetitive hand/wrist/finger motions while using the computer.
