Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Semi-Skilled Laborer (Seasonal) - Bald Eagle State Park in Howard, Pennsylvania

DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role involves performing semi-skilled manual labor related to the construction and upkeep of Bald Eagle State Park. In this capacity, you will engage in semi-skilled tasks independently or support a skilled worker in executing routine maintenance and construction activities within the park. Additionally, you may take on the responsibility of leading a small team of manual laborers as they carry out their assigned tasks.

The position requires availability on weekends and holidays, and you may need to adapt to varied shifts in response to specific circumstances. Your responsibilities will include assisting with the installation, removal, and upkeep of marina systems and courtesy docks, as well as aiding in the repair of watercraft and related equipment necessary for the maintenance of these facilities.

You will also be tasked with repairing buildings and facilities, utilizing tools from carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other construction trades to effectively carry out maintenance duties. Furthermore, you will operate and help maintain vehicles and equipment used throughout the park, ensuring they are in good working condition.

Your duties will extend to constructing simple forms for concrete work with carpentry tools, mixing and placing concrete, finishing surfaces with masonry tools, and laying stone and block walls. Ground maintenance tasks will include mowing or trimming grass and weeds with various equipment, cutting firewood, collecting litter, loading and transporting materials in dump trucks or pickup trucks, cleaning grills, sweeping paved areas, digging holes and ditches, and clearing drains and culverts.

Additional responsibilities encompass site preparation, seeding and establishing new turf areas, planting and caring for trees and shrubs, and maintaining trails throughout the park.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Seasonal full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November 2024 at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
