BAE Systems Franchise Portfolio Engineering Lead in Hudson, New Hampshire

Job Description

BAE Systems, a provider of some of the world's most advanced, technology-led defense, aerospace, and security systems is seeking a highly motivated and highly experienced Portfolio Engineering Lead (PEL) to deliver exceptional product development, production support and new business growth for the Franchise Programs within the Precisions Guidance and Sensing Solutions product line including the THAAD seeker, APKWS guidance section and the portfolio of products derived from them.

This engineering leader is responsible for all engineering scope in their portfolio and will oversee a team of dedicated Project Engineering Managers (PEMs) who are responsible for the technical, cost and schedule execution of their projects. The right candidate will have the experience and background to be an immediate impact player. The candidate must have a strong understanding and customer affinity to interface regularly with the Services, platform primes, and mission system integrators, and will be familiar with Department of Defense (DoD) requirements and acquisition processes. She/he should have experience with low-cost guided munitions, radar seeker, or EOIR seeker technology with production of seeker and guidance technology including semi-active laser, IR, and/or RF ranging from high quality/high reliability to low cost/high quantity.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and manages engineering activities to comply with cost, schedule and technical requirements and established engineering practices to meet program commitments.

  • Serves as the engineering focal point for the portfolio for integrated plans, issue reporting, risk management, subcontract management, etc.

  • Coordinates the engineering cost, schedule, and technical inputs to support a competitive and executable proposal and obtains the appropriate approvals through engineering management.

  • Interfaces with cognizant program management, project engineering managers, design teams and functional engineering organizations to obtain agreement on allocated requirements and resolve system level requirement issues and ambiguities during development.

  • Oversees development of engineering projects and plans. Ensures that the engineering staff adheres to the approved plans by attending program control meetings, design reviews, auditing processes, reviewing status, and communicating regularly with the project engineering managers.

  • Reviews technical changes to requirements. Coordinates the analysis of the impact of technical changes to cost and schedule and ensures implementation and consistent design integrity.

  • Reviews and monitors engineering metrics on programs in the portfolio and provides technical support to program management.

  • Interfaces with functional engineering organizations to ensure programs are adequately staffed and executed.

  • Identifies and coordinates the necessary equipment and facility resources required to successfully execute engineering activities.

  • Creates and presents executive-level internal and external briefings.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Active DoD Secret clearance

  • Bachelor s Degree in Science, Engineering or Math with 12 years experience.

  • Demonstrated engineering lead on complex, multi-year DoD pursuits and programs with total value exceeding $20M Development and $200M Production.

  • Extensive experience with project planning and execution including staffing, scheduling, and cost tracking.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional/organizational teams.

  • Experience on production program support, analyzing and optimizing production processes

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • MS Degree in Science, Engineering or Math

  • Established relationships across the missile or munition communities

  • Deep understanding ofmissile or munition seeker related technologies (RF and EOIR),CONOPS, and future plans with demonstrated ability in building collaborative cross-functional teams

  • Deep understanding of guidance technologies

  • Experience with gun hardened munitions

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $147300 - $250400

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
