Position summary: JMT Architecture’s Higher Education Studio seeks a passionate architect to join our growing team dedicated to higher education facilities featuring teaching and learning spaces that are both innovative and technology rich, embracing the newest trends in pedagogy.
Our studio arrangement successfully combines the technical competence, variety of talent, and management expertise available within the larger firm with the hands-on, personal service of a small firm. Our studio provides focused expertise in architecture, interior design, programming, planning, and research to create inspirational environments that foster learning and intellectual enrichment.
Responsible for performing all phases of architectural work from conceptual design through construction administration.
Essential functions and responsibilities
Prepare architectural designs for projects of moderate size and complexity
Perform analyses of design, planning and programming studies and limited design layouts
Follow instructions on specific assignment objectives and prepare possible solutions
Perform architectural assignments with direction, but without immediate supervision and with certain design responsibility
Prepare architectural project research, compiling and analyzing relevant data
Create reports and specifications
Review completed reports, plans, estimates and calculations
Nonessential functions and responsibilities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills
Proficient with computer-assisted design software such as Revit, SketchUp or AutoCAD
Proficient with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Required Experience
Bachelors or Masters of Architecture
6-10 years of architectural design experience
Professional Architect License
Experience in higher education/campus planning
Experience with design, graphic and presentation skills
Strong design portfolio
Experience with BIM modeling or rendering and modeling software
Experience working on projects from $1 Million - $100 Million
Design capabilities required
Preferred Experience
LEED AP accreditation preferred
Experience with design graphic software
Experience in health education professions
Interest in programming, planning and design
Working Conditions
JMT Architecture offers a hybrid work schedule. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
