The Boeing Research & Technology organization is looking for a Lead Software Architect to support the Payload Product Technology team located in Huntington Beach, CA.

Position Responsibilities

  • Leads activities to develop, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for flight software systems.

  • Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system.

  • Develops software requirements plans, verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.

  • Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities.

  • Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics.

  • Leads software research and development projects.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.

  • Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.

  • Mentor and train others.

  • Works under consultative direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements

This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start ).

Coding Challenge:

To be considered for this position you will be required to complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience as a Technical leader/Software Architect and/or Software Lead Developer

  • 5 or more years of experience using programming languages such as C++ 5 or more years of experience with systems architecture, requirements analysis, test, and verification

  • 5 or more years of experience with satellite or space-based payloads

  • 3 or more years’ experience in VxWorks – RTOS (Real Time Operating Systems )

  • 5 or more years in objected oriented design and programming

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor of Science degree (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or other technical degree is strongly preferred .

  • Experience in Object Oriented Design and Programming

  • Experience working on large scale complex development programs using strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with the full life cycle process of software systems and development

  • Experience using Model Based Systems Engineering tool skills including knowledge of tools such as Cameo

  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and project managers.

  • Experience in Matlab auto coding, GNC, and image processing

Typical Education/Experience

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $161,500.00 - $218,500.00
