The Boeing Company is looking for a Mid-Level Cryogenic Integration Engineer based out of Huntington Beach, CA .

At SSED, we're looking for someone to join a team committed to understanding and improving state-of-the-art SoC and ASIC designs for Quantum System Microelectronics (QSM), a part of the Disruptive Computing and Networking (DC&N) venture. We are bringing novel electronic test systems online and need individuals capable of standing them up, improving designs and processes and integrating working solutions into larger systems. Ultimately, candidates who are capable and interested in a multi-disciplinary approach to engineering as part of the natural innovation process will be most successful in this role. Electrically testing said designs will be part of the work as will analysis and interpretation of the data. Helping to plan improvement implementation for cryogenic test setup and integrated systems alike will also be required.

The successful candidate will conceptualize at a very high level and subsequently execute with extreme attention to detail all rooted in first principles of cryo-physics, circuit design, sound mechanical engineering and well thought out test automation. An interest in quantum systems is also a plus. The selected candidate will join a team that is motivated, engaged, and eager to advance the state of the art. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in the lab, setting up and characterizing key test components as much as they do simulating expected behavior of new cryogenic systems or whiteboarding novel integration solutions with teammates.

Candidate shall be able to show recent demonstrated ability in one or more of the following areas:

  • Learn a new technical area or application and show individual evidence of contributing to success of a project in that area as an individual contributor

  • Small team environment where individuals are entrepreneurial self-starters who produce engineering products involving multiple disciplines

  • Research & Development involving highly technical, complex engineering content

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes customer and system requirements to develop basic architectural approaches and detailed specifications for various products.

  • Stand up & test novel cryogenic systems

  • Integrate components into a larger system for test

  • Validates designs through various methods of review, testing and analysis.

  • Identifies, tracks and statuses technical performance measures to measure progress.

  • Provides engineering support throughout the lifecycle of the product.

  • Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.

  • Works under general direction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • Experience with cryogenic test systems

  • Experience with lab electrical test and measurement/data collection systems

  • Basic hardware/software troubleshooting skills

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Master's degree or higher

  • Experience with COMSOL, HSPICE, Python, VNA operation, AWR Microwave Office

  • Experience with low-noise measurements

  • Experience with design/development of integrated circuits

  • Experience with Machine Learning

  • Experience with FPGAs

  • Experience with VHDL

  • Experience with Quantum Information

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $104,550 – $141,450
