The Finance Department is responsible for monitoring the financial performance for City departments, managing the procurement of goods and services for the city, and managing the citys cash flow from taxes, resources, and debt. Finance further provides the citizens of Huntsville, elected officials, city departments and other parties financial services and financial management information.

Accountant III Position Overview:

This is advanced and highly specialized professional fiscal or accounting work. Work involves overseeing and administering grant funds, maintaining financial and management control of federal funds, or auditing the records of business establishments for compliance with tax ordinances and laws. Work may also involve team leader responsibilities on large or sensitive projects or programs.

Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or closely related field with major course work in accounting. A minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience which demonstrates a thorough professional level of accounting.

Possession of a valid driver's license and safe driving record for employees whose job requires traveling.

Certified Public Accountant status is preferred.
