SAIC Aircraft Flight Performance Subject Matter Expert in HUNTSVILLE, Alabama

SAIC has an opening for a Flight Performance/Mission Planning Subject Matter Expert in Huntsville, AL.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform as Rotary-Wing/Fixed-Wing Subject Matter Expert for the U.S. Army’s Aviation Mission Planning System (AMPS), specifically in the areas of aircraft configuration, flight performance, and weight & balance.

  • Manage the development, process, and validation of software Flight Performance Models (FPMs)

  • Create formal documentation to include FPM requirements, design, test, and validation/data substantiation reports.

  • Conduct end-user level testing on flight performance models and performance planning software applications to ensure Warfighter/customer requirements are met.

  • Work with Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD) and Platform Managers (PMs) to achieve Airworthiness approval for FPMs and Performance Planning Applications (PPAs).

Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and nine (9) years or more related experience; Six (6) years additional experience can be accepted in lieu of degree (per contract vehicle).

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must possess an active Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Subject matter expertise in rotary-wing/fixed-wing flight performance, particularly with regard to aircraft performance prediction and computation of PPC/TOLD cards IAW applicable Aircrew Training Manuals (ATMs)

  • Experience with one or more aviation platforms (H-60, AH-64, CH-47, FW); emphasis on rotary-wing

  • Ability to quickly adapt to a changing environment

  • Candidate should be a self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills

  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to handle multiple clients and multiple team members with confidence

  • Strong written and oral communications abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • Familiarity with the Army’s Airworthiness process [i.e. Airworthiness Qualification Plans/Specifications (AQPs/AQSs), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), DO-178C/DO-278A].

  • Engineering background.

  • Familiarity/experience with Azure DevOps (ADO).
