Your typical day  – Our MDA analysts and engineers work in modern, well-appointed government facilities at Redstone Arsenal. Redstone Arsenalis located inHuntsville, Alabama, otherwise known as “Rocket City.” Huntsville is the hub of missile and space research and development. You will collaborate with other missile defense experts – military, government civilians, and contractors from Axient and other companies. Our team of experts helps the Government manage planning, development, and delivery of state-of-the art sensors, weapons, communications, and command/control systems. As a member of MDA’s Test Design and Analysis division, the Basic Engineer will provide criticalflighttest analysis to ensure the success of the MDAflighttest program.

What you will do...

Thecandidatewilluse theirknowledge and technical skills to support MDA’s Test Directorate in all aspects offlighttestplanning andrange safetyanalysis.Thecandidatewillutilizecore engineering and analyticalskills tooptimizetarget and interceptor missile trajectory data to perform quantitative safety and risk analyses of flight test designs to ensure ballistic missile flight / intercept tests can be conducted safely on national test ranges.Candidate will also perform studies to include telemetry link assessments that ensure flight test architecture meets data collection requirements. In addition,thecandidatewilldeveloprange safetydata products for use byMDA external organizations, to includenational test ranges in their independent safety assessments of flight tests.The candidatemayalsoassistin developingalgorithms and models tofacilitateassessments that meet standard risk parameters.Furthermore,the candidatewillschedule,participatein, and present analysis at working group meetings, peer reviews and other technical meetings. Thecandidate should have strong oral and written communications skills and be comfortable communicating to the customer and senior management. Candidate should be self-motivated, with the ability to make proper,timelydecisions and recommendations.

Skills you will need...

Required Skills and Experience:

• BS in an engineering field

• Active or ability to obtain Secret security clearance

• Experience withsoftware/scriptdevelopment(MATLAB, Python,Java,C++and other programming languages)

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word,Exceland PowerPoint)

• Critical thinkingandproblem solving

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently perform multiple tasks

• Ability to work with a team in a dynamic environment

• Self-starter with willingness to learn

Highly Desirable Skills and Experience:

• Experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) organization and Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) design,performanceand testing

• Ability to communicate detailed technical information tobothtechnical and non-technicalpersonnel and senior leaders

• Knowledge ofrange safety standards, to includethe Range Commander’s Council standards related to flight and range safety

• Knowledge of and/or experience with Flight Termination Systems and Autonomous Flight Safety Systems
