CFD Research Corporation Computational Biophysics and Biomechanics Scientist in Huntsville, Alabama

The engineer/scientists in this role will work to develop computational biophysics and biomechanics models to be integrated into software tools for high profile projects in collaboration with US government, academia, medical and industry.

Candidate will need to have a solid technical foundation in biophysics, biomechanics and finite element modeling (specifically for bio applications) and an ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders. The position will allow the researcher to contribute to both current research projects as well as shape future efforts. The main responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Development of multiscale computational biophysics and biomechanics models and tools for computational medicine, biology and other applications
  • Candidate will also work to formulate and implement mathematical models of cell/tissue biology and tissue/organ physiology
  • Collaborative work with Biomedical Industry, Academia and US Government organizations (DOD, FDA, NIH) in addition to working across disciplines within the organization
  • Contribute to scientific projects, publications and proposals

Position Requirements:

  • PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Biophysics, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering
  • Strong experience developing numerical models (FEM) with exposure to (or strong interest in) biomedical and biological applications
  • Good communication skills (oral and written), including preparing technical material for documentation and reporting. Grant writing is a plus
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is preferred.
