Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team in a PVC, plastic extrusion plant. The ideal candidate should have experience in dismantling and reassembling equipment, troubleshooting hydraulics, and working with hand tools. While plastics knowledge is a plus, it is not required. The role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and mechanical systems. Candidates should have at least two to three years of manufacturing maintenance experience and be well-versed in safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Observe mechanical devices in operation and listen to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.

  • Troubleshoot electrical circuits to determine problems.

  • Dismantle devices to gain access to remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.

  • Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.

  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.

  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments, using hand tools, levels, and straight edges.

  • Repair or replace defective parts (electric and mechanical) using hand tools and power tools.

  • Install special functional and structural parts in devices, using hand tools.

  • Start devices to test their performance.

  • Apply a push or pull force of 100 lbs. and lift a minimum of 75 lbs.

  • Read and interpret blueprints.

  • Work with 110v electrical systems and troubleshoot hydraulics.

  • Maintain and clean parts.

  • Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines as needed.

  • Keep the work area clean.

  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • At least three years of manufacturing maintenance experience.

  • Experience with safety procedures and lock out tag out.

  • Mechanical experience with hydraulics, gears, boilers, and pumps.

  • Electrical knowledge with PLCs and motors, including experience with 480 volts.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, product manuals, equipment manuals, and safety protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school education or equivalent.

  • Two years of technical school or related experience.

  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment

The work environment is a non-climate controlled plastics manufacturing facility. The shift hours are 1st shift from 7 AM to 4 PM, Monday to Friday, and night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM with 12-hour shifts (A/B/C/D). Employees will stay on either days or nights, with two technicians for each shift.
