GDIT is seeking a Network Engineer to provide technical support for the development, test, integration, and sustainment of several systems within the Army’s Force Protection portfolio. As a Network Engineer on this program, you will be a member of an engineering team that interacts with technical and non-technical stakeholders, you will play a crucial role in designing, deploying, and maintaining network solutions to provide onsite and remote support for multiple Force Protection System (FPS) Family of Systems (FOS) to the IBD-SS program with operations located at Redstone Arsenal, AL.

What you need to be successful and how you will make an impact to the mission:

The Network Engineer is responsible for deployment and continued support of mission critical network infrastructure systems in the areas of Routers/Switches, Security, and Wireless technologies

  • Configure and install software, switches, routers, firewalls, and other network devices

  • Support design, installation, and integration of new routers, switches, servers and other equipment within the accreditation boundary of the designed system.

  • Provides technical support, solutions and advice to solve complex issues; while maintaining a focus on configuration management, design limitations and product lifecycle.

  • Create comprehensive and detailed diagrams and documentation for existing network configurations, ensuring clarity and accuracy

  • Maintain network interface/port configurations, IP routing tables, firewall settings, filter tables, passwords, and performance controls

  • Perform in-depth analysis of networking configurations and provide recommendations based on that analysis

  • Configures, installs, and maintains network security and monitoring systems

  • Ability to design, deploy, and troubleshoot small to medium size network and server infrastructures

  • Provide hands-on and tier III level of support for troubleshooting Network and Firewall issues

  • Position may require lifting of objects (i.e. IT Hardware), reaching/bending/kneeling (i.e. plug in cables) and other moderately strenuous activity

  • Other duties as assigned by the Test Engineering Manager or IBD-SS leadership

Desirable Skills / Experience:

  • Verifiable experience as a Network Engineer with Strong Cisco product knowledge (CCNA Preferred)

  • Experience with setting up and working within virtualized computing environments. VLAN, network segmentation and virtual desktops.

  • Must have experience providing analysis, root cause diagnosis, and troubleshooting for servers, routers, switches, and firewalls

  • Must have experience with various vendor networking products (servers, switches, routers, firewalls, etc.)

  • Able to advise engineering and implement new technologies for high-level designs and monitor performance based on specified project requirements

  • Possess expert knowledge of the Cisco product line and experience with Cisco ISR’s and Cisco Catalyst switched

  • Possess expert knowledge of routing Protocols

  • Possess knowledge in Network Security and DoD RMF 2.0 and CATO requirement

  • Possess foundational knowledge in Serial device protocols and analog to digital converters

  • Experience with Video Management Systems and open source supporting software (VLC) is a plus

What you will need to succeed:

  • BA/BS + 8 yrs. experience (12 yrs. exp. in lieu of a degree)

  • DoD 8570 technical certifications as directed by the government and Program Manager, however preferred certifications in possession IAT II, CCNA or higher or ITILv4

  • US Secret security clearance

The likely salary range for this position is $89,250 - $120,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
