Quality Control Technician

Location: Huntsville, AL

Position Status:Full Time

Work Schedule:Regular hours are Monday - Friday between the hours of 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Employees may need to adjust work hours during surge situations.

Brief Job Description:

The Quality Control Technician's responsibilities primarily focus on wire harness manufacturing but will also include activities that support the Quality Management System. Responsibilities include enforcing manufacturing quality processes, helping to identify gaps in processes, conducting in process and final inspections, testing, documentation development and review, assisting with root cause analysis and corrective action, and conducting receiving inspections of incoming parts and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Inspecting output samples using industry-appropriate methods, such as comparing to standards, measuring dimensions, electrical testing and examining functionality
  • Checking that the assembly or production line adheres to standards and procedures and complying with legal requirements
  • Reviewing blueprints and specifications to compare to produced goods
  • Recording inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database
  • Assist in the inspection of First Articles and the development of FAI Reports in accordance with AS9102 standard
  • Conduct receiving inspection of incoming parts and materials, verifying quantity, documentation, condition, etc.
  • Assist with the auditing of quality processes.
  • Training the production team on quality control measures to improve product quality
  • Proposing improvements to the production process
  • Review production processes and assist with production traveler development
  • Assist with the manufacturing of articles as needed
  • Monitoring the use of equipment to ensure it is safe and discard any that do not meet requirements
  • Updating job knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and regular training
  • Maintain the Measurement Device Control (calibration) program, keeping measurement equipment operating accurately by following calibration requirements and calling for repairs
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and radiographs
  • Using gauges such as calipers and micrometers to measure products
  • Collecting and compiling statistical quality data
  • Assisting in the development of test methods, inspection plans, and test data sheets
  • Determining the causes of product defects and reworks
  • Conduct terminal pull test to verify that calibrated equipment is operating correctly
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skill Sets

  • Must possess an in dept understanding of the IPC-620. (current certification preferred)
  • Basic knowledge of the AS9100 standards
  • Knowledge in the programing and operation of wire harness testing equipment i.e. multimeter, CIRRIS wire harness tester, power supplies, etc.
  • Experience with auditing quality processes preferred

  • Must demonstrate positive, polite, and professional behavior at all times when dealing with co-workers, customers, and all levels of management
  • Must have the ability to communicate using clear, concise, and accurate English; both verbal and written are Required

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to: bending, reaching, climbing, turning, and kneeling to complete daily duties i a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift, move, and transport items frequently over 10 pounds.

Work Environment:

Generally, work is conducted in an inside office environment, but may also involve some outside work depending on the task. The inside environment may be in an office or cubicle with close quarters, low to moderate noise, and bright or dim lighting. Outside work may include various environmental conditions including warm and cold climates and while on travel.
