PPT Solutions, Inc is looking for a Safety Engineer in Huntsville, AL.
Description of Responsibilities for the Safety Engineer:
Primary responsibilities will include providing system safety support to multiple Army aviation rotorcraft projects through the application of SAE ARP4754A and ARP4761 safety assessment processes and principles to existing and modified (sub)systems. Support includes review and evaluation of existing and modified architectures from a system safety perspective, technical review and evaluation of safety and design documentation prepared by others, performing various safety analysis techniques and documenting it for review by others, active participation in IPTs, working groups, review panels, requirement and design reviews. Applicant must be able to apply the SAE methodologies and guidance to evaluate/prepare FHAs, PSSAs, SSAs, FTAs, Zonal Safety Analysis, and Common Mode Analysis for mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems and equipment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for the Safety Engineer:
BS in engineering or equivalent science and 5 years relevant
Working knowledge of SAE ARP4754A(B) and ARP4761(A) processes and principles
Knowledge of MIL-STD-882E analyses and processes
Committed to learning new technologies and processes (e.g. MBSE).
Apply the SAE methods and guidance to identify and justify safety requirements.
Evaluate safety documentation prepared by others for completeness and correctness.
Effectively communicate technical information both verbally and in writing.
Collaborate across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of systems architecture, operation, usage, and design.
Contribute positively in working groups, review panels or boards, or program and design reviews while supporting system safety positions.
Maintain an in-office and telework schedule.
Must be able to travel (5-10%).
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the required level.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for the Safety Engineer:
Working knowledge of MBSE
Knowledge of MIL-HDBK-516
Knowledge of DO-297
Knowledge of DO-178C software development processes including use cases, requirements, and objective artifacts; the JSSEH; AMCOM Regulation 385-1 7
