Lockheed Martin Systems Engineer - IT, Sr / Linux / Secret / Onsite: Huntsville, AL in Huntsville, Alabama

The candidate will be a System Engineer for an enterprise WAN solution: DarkStar! The candidate will be responsible for supporting the Linux environments within DarkStar at one of our node locations and will be the primary interface for DarkStar. The selected candidate will closely work with the larger DarkStar system administration and network team to maintain, sustain and keep secure all Linux environments throughout the system. Candidate must be comfortable working in environment supporting a large number of different platforms which range from enterprise servers to small/midsize servers and supercomputers. Candidate will be responsible for system installations, upgrades, configurations, software installation, patching and maintenance. Knowledge of various protocols such as DNS, SMTP, NFS, FTP, Telnet, ssh, and etc protocols and system network tuning and configuration

Basic Qualifications:

• DoD SECRET clearance

• Experience customizing and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux Common Operating Environment (COE) to meet various customer requirements (DISA STIGs, DCID 6/3, NNSA regulations, etc.)

• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8 Administration and Configuration

• Experience with Ansible and other automation tools

• Fiber Channel (SAN and Direct Attach) Storage Array Administration Experience

• Experience with Script Writing

• System Configuration and Hardening

• Patch RHEL 7/8 systems using Red Hat Satellite

• Demonstrated ability to work seamlessly across organization boundaries

• Self-starter with the ability to spot potential for process improvement

• Capable of building effective relationships with teams and subject matter experts

• Security + Certification

Desired Skills:

• Create and maintain local RHEL, CentOS, and EPEL RPM/YUM software repositories

• Experience with Trusted Multi-Level Security (MLS) Operating Systems

• Experience using Certificate Authorities (CA) and Public Key Infrastructure

• Experience with ICD-503

• Specific experience using RHEL7/8/9 with SELinux enabled

• Specific experience customizing SELinux (targeted or strict) policy for the purpose of

hardening the OS and Software applications such as Apache and Oracle.

• Experience with implementation and sustainment of network time protocol (NTP) distributed servers

• Experience with Domain Capable Windows/Linux/Virtualization

• Experience with storage solutions such as NetApp & RackTop

• RHCSA a plus

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
