Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Communications and Engagement directorate is looking for candidates for aCOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST.
The Communications Specialist consults on best practices for sharing our message with broad audiences, helping our experts create and tailor their messages to effectively reach target audiences.
You will develop and oversee the creation of internal and external communication efforts or products.
Our team works a 9x80 schedule located in Idaho Falls, Idaho, with every other Friday off!
You will report to the Internal Communications manager.
Job Description:
- Stay up to date on organization developments goals and communication needs.
- Work with experts to understand target audiences, choose effective communication channels, and refine messages appropriately.
- Create newsletters, talking points, FAQs, internal messages, fact sheets, news releases, website content, social media and videos.
- Consult on standard methodologies for sharing successes to help subject matter experts create and tailor their messages to effectively reach target audiences.
- Prepare messaging for target audiences, choose effective communications channels, and refine messages to optimize performance. Ensure understanding of INL and DOE expectations regarding branding, messaging, awareness, and approvals.
- Create feature stories and news releases, an array of informational products (e.g., website(s) and web content, newsletters, social media, videos, fact sheets, annual reports, special reports, images, topical PowerPoint presentations, FAQs, and talking points), special event planning, and activities designed to create internal and external business awareness. May maintain digital content calendar and schedule posts for social media and INL website.
- Partner with subject matter experts to develop comprehensive reports for internal leadership, external customers, employees, and critical team members.
- Advise leadership on strategy and solutions for achieving outreach goals.
- Manage multiple deliverables simultaneously and anticipate short-, medium-, and long-term communication needs.
- Develop working relationships with public affairs counterparts across the laboratory and customer agencies.
Minimum Requirements:
Level 2: Bachelor's degree inCommunications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English or a related field and 2 years of communication experience or a Master's degree inCommunications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English or a related field.
Level 3: Bachelor's degree in**Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, English or a related field and 5 years of communication experience or a master's degree and 2 years of experience.
Job Information:
- The pay range for this position is: Level 2-Grade 420 ($56.196 - $106,644) / Level 3-Grade 430 ($65,064 - $133,416). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
- You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
- Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
