Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Lead Professional Mobile and Desktop Services to work in our Information Technology department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our INL Administration Building in Idaho Falls, Idaho with every other Friday off. Remote or Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.

You will report to the Manager of End User Experience, and you will provide leadership and oversight of this service and the personnel on this team. Advise senior management on significant issues related to INL IT Mobile and Desktop Operations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Coordinate and direct activities of mobility and desktop services team members, including resource and performance management. Manage projects of the IT operations staff, providing a high level of service to our internal and external customers along with support services and computer technology components to meet the operating needs of the INL.
  • Manage vendors and service providers.
  • Manage annual and monthly budgets.Meet annual and monthly metric targets; recommend and implement cost-savings opportunities.
  • Support vulnerability management activities.
  • Work package and Service owner responsible for a budget totaling 1.5 million. Subject Matter Expert (SME) on deployment of desktop and mobile technologies across the INL.
  • Project support for complex operational deployments and implementations. SME and backup system administrator for client management systems used to mitigate cyber security risks, ensure compliance with Department of Energy standards, and provide inventory and other operational information to the laboratory.
  • Functional lead and team member in evaluating, selecting, and implementing technical controls to solve configuration and vulnerability management risks.
  • Develop a robust operational infrastructure to support the INL mission. Include an architectural approach to operations that supports a graded risk-based approach for cyber security, internal business systems, and scientific projects. Operational infrastructure to support Mobile Application Access and a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.
  • Use computer capabilities, developmental tool kits, and process improvements to help resolve technical issues.
  • Provide professional services exercising independent decision-making and judgment to INL employees on computer-related issues. Provide subject matter expertise on technical analysis and resolution of computer systems for INL-standard hardware, software, networking/configurations, and other computer-related fault situations. Work closely with the cyber security officer to ensure that IT Desktop Management operations is secure and compatible with technology developments and potential threats.

*Minimum Requirements: *

  • Bachelor's degree and 9 years relevant experience or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • Demonstrate a highly specialized level of knowledge in computer systems analysis.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the following: standard computer hardware/software, intrusion detection systems, monitoring and logging capabilities, TCP/IP networking and configuration, Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Experience with systems administration and its capabilities.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Macintosh, and Linux operating system installation and configuration, software deployment methodologies and scripting

*Job Information: *

  • The pay range for this position is ($109,260 - $223,908). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
