Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a NRIC DOME Reactor Manager to work in our Advanced Reactor Demonstration and Deployment department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our (Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) with every Friday off.
INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for the United States Department of Energy, Office of Nuclear Energy, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. With the establishment of the National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) the previously shutdown Materials & Fuel Complex (MFC) EBR-II facility was repurposed as the NRIC DOME to support advanced reactor development. The NRIC DOME Reactor Manager reports to the MFC Deputy Director of Advanced Reactor Demonstrations and duties include active participation and Operations input to facility and reactor design and construction activities. The NRIC DOME Reactor Manager is the primary Operations representative for the facility and any reactors installed in the facility, will coordinate with other MFC Directorates, Non-MFC INL Organizations, NRIC, Reactor Vendors, and DOE as the Nuclear Facility Manager (NFM). The facility will be a Hazard Class 2 Facility and periodically house a Category B reactor of less than 20MW thermal power rating. This position is responsible for all operational and maintenance management aspects, safe operations of the DOME facility and any installed reactors, execution of reactor testing, and maintenance/modification of plant facilities to maximize availability and customer expectations.
You will manage and collaborate to develop and establish operational policies within area managed. May participate in strategy development for corporate team. Requires detailed functional expertise and broad company knowledge.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage the activities of a department or a discipline through subordinate supervisors and professionals.
- Provide guidance to team members within the latitude of established company policies
- Responsible for the effective operation of activities of major significance to our organization. Decisions impact others in the immediate team and influences methods and techniques.
- Build financials, business planning, organizational priorities, and workforce. Ensure that budgets, schedules, and performance standards are realistically set and attained.
- Typically manage employees who perform similar tasks. May manage supervisors, exempt, and non-exempt staff.
- Receive objective based assignments and determine resources to meet schedules and goals.
- Responsible for single function, location, and technical discipline.
- Recommend changes to policies and establish procedures that affect department or multiple disciplines.
- Help develop overall goals and long-term goals of the department and possibly the division.
- Work with subordinate supervisors, customers, and functional peer group professionals, involving matters between sections and multiple units.
- Partner with important contacts outside own area of expertise and other external team members.
- Communicate results and recommendations across discipline.
- Third level of management with human resource responsibilities. Typically, all work is performed through the management of others.
- You will typically report to a direct report of a Director, Sr. Director, or Senior Leadership.

Minimum Requirements:
- 11yearsofapplicableexperience,and/orBaccalaureatedegreeinapplicablefieldplus5 yearsofexperience.Applicableexperienceincludes,butisnotlimitedto,extensiveexperienceintheoperation, maintenance or engineering of nuclear reactors.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a reactor supervision or management position.
- Previous license or certification as a reactor operator or senior reactor operator.
- MustbecapableofqualificationasaNuclearFacilityManagerandUSQEvaluator
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Job Information:
- The target pay range for this position is$137,205 - $203,855annually. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
