POSITION SUMMARY

The Global Director of Health & Safety is responsible for promoting Vantage’s values by developing and maintaining a culture of health and safety excellence, operational discipline, and transparency. The ideal candidate will ensure the company has the tools and processes to meet regulatory obligations and continuous improvement goals by driving a culture of accountability and awareness. They will take the lead on developing and communicating company standards to meet or exceed best practices, act as a champion for the health and welfare of our employees and identify ways to instill a culture of safety excellence into the foundation of the company.

POSITION SCOPE

The Director will work closely with Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, Research & Development, Product Regulatory, Legal and Human Resources. This role will have a dotted line reporting structure for all EHS personnel at the manufacturing sites. They will be the subject matter expert and a mentor to the EHS community at Vantage.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Actively engage and collaborate with employees across the organization to foster ownership of all aspects of health and safety.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive health and safety strategy to mitigate and manage the health, and safety risks of our operations aligned to the company's overall goals and objectives.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to integrate key health and safety initiatives into the corporate culture.

  • Create, revise and communicate policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. Provide guidance on implementation and interpretation.

  • Develop objectives, targets, key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to reduce risk, capitalize on opportunities and communicate the effectiveness of the health and safety programs.

  • Analyze data and trends to continuously improve safety performance.

  • Lead or participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and develop robust corrective actions.

  • Conduct EHS audits and risk assessments to verify the effectiveness of the company health and safety programs.

  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and responsibility through ongoing training and educational initiatives.

  • Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports to relevant regulatory bodies.

  • Partner with stakeholders to share best practices and EHSSS performance criteria.

The Ideal Candidate

Desired Background

Bachelor of Science degree in a related field, preferably Occupational Health & Safety or Chemical or Environmental Engineering is required. Master’s degree preferred. Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Professional Engineer, or other relevant certifications also preferred. A minimum of 8 years of industry experience with a chemical manufacturing company or related field is required.

  • Proven ability to assess the applicability of complex safety regulations to a variety of situations and develop programs to proactively and cost-effectively address compliance.

  • Skilled trainer capable of developing and delivering targeted programs to foster understanding, build relationships and influence leaders.
