In this vital role the Executive Director of Rare Disease Insights, you will lead a dynamic team in driving analytics and strategic insights initiatives to inform critical business decisions within Amgen. Leveraging your extensive experience and in-depth knowledge, you will collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, sales, and access to identify key business questions and provide actionable recommendations based on robust market research and analytics. Your strategic acumen will enable you to serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, offering thought leadership on market trends, competitive threats, and commercial opportunities. You will drive innovation and continuous improvement in market research and analytics processes, ensuring the organization remains ahead of industry trends and meets evolving business needs. Additionally, you will champion talent development, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within your team. Through effective communication and leadership, you will lead the organization in developing and implementing best practices to drive business growth and success in the dynamic biopharmaceutical landscape.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the commercial leadership teams within the Rare Disease Business Unit, providing thought leadership on market trends, competitive threats, and opportunities based on robust analysis and interpretation of market insights.

  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement in commercial analytics and market research processes, tools, and methodologies to stay ahead of industry trends and meet evolving business needs.

  • Drive the integration of primary market research findings with secondary data analytics to provide a holistic understanding of market dynamics and customer insights to executive leadership teams.

  • Ability to articulate and apply the business and clinical aspects of the patient journey, ensuring a holistic understanding of areas to optimize in order to help patients and drive business performance.

  • Facilitate discussions with senior leaders to provide unbiased, transparent perspectives on the health of the business, and areas of risk and opportunity.

  • Leverage knowledge of the treatment and customer journeys to help patients and drive business performance.

  • Spearhead the strategic alignment and allocation of leadership team resources, fostering cross-functional collaboration to ensure timely completion of organizational priorities.

  • Enable collaboration with key stakeholders across marketing, sales, and access leadership to identify pivotal business questions and leverage sophisticated market research and analytics to address them decisively.

  • Partner with other analytic functions to advance the use of novel data sources and reporting, including, but not limited to, Data Science and Forecasting.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 6 years of business analytics, market research or insights experience OR

  • Master’s degree and 10 years of business analytics, market research or insights experience OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of business analytics, market research or insights experience AND

  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading commercial launch activities or in-market commercialization efforts, with a focus on leveraging market insights and analytics to drive successful product launches and lifecycle management strategies.

  • Experience working with rare diseases, including a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in this area.

  • Expertise in market research within the biopharmaceutical industry, including a comprehensive understanding of industry dynamics, market trends, and competitive landscape at an executive level.

  • Proficiency in handling secondary data sets such as claims, NPA, Xponent, 852/867, etc.

  • Strategic agility and adaptability to navigate ambiguity and drive results in a rapidly changing business environment, while maintaining a focus on long-term goals and objectives.

  • Commitment to professional growth and development, with a proactive approach to staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in market research and commercial analytics.

  • Ability to communicate effectively clearly and concisely and a strong desire to lead change in terms of developing best practices.

  • Wide range of analytics/consultative skillsets and experience spanning across different disciplines and therapeutic areas, with a focus on rare diseases

  • Proactively identify & define business problems and design effective solutions to address through data, analytics, and research.

  • Leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop high-performing teams, while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Ability to identify, retain, and develop top talent required to build and sustain a diverse, high-performing team.

The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $266,404 to $326,760.
