TheUF/IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program (FNP) (https://familynutritionprogram.org/) is seeking a strategic, passionate and inclusive Early Learning (EL) Coordinator to lead an expansion of SNAP-Ed programming into 29 counties implementing a Train the Trainer model to strengthen early childhood teaching skill sets and classroom environments. This position implements recruitment strategies, builds, and fosters relationships at the county and state level, generates alignment and cohesion across the program, sets unit goals, and ensures that reach deliverables are met. What is SNAP-Ed
SNAP-Ed (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Education) is a federally funded grant program that teaches people how to eat healthy on a budget and be more physically active to reduce the risk of obesity and chronic disease.
The UF/IFAS Extension Family Nutrition Program (FNP), has been providing SNAP-Ed in Florida since 1996
Funding comes from the USDA through the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF)
The program is based on the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the USDA food guidance (MyPlate), as well as the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans
We teach nutrition education classes where people normally gather, such as schools, childcare and community centers, libraries and churches
Our dedicated regional public health and food systems staff work to impact policies, systems and environments to support healthy changes in our communities
The Opportunity
As the EL Coordinator, you will be joining a signature Extension program impacting hundreds of thousands of income-constrained youth each year. As the state’s premier land-grant university, UF offers free educational programs through Extension to provide solutions for everyday problems facing Florida’s families. As part of Extension, you will be joining a network that has served Floridians for over 100 years.
In this role, you can expect to:
Hire, train, provide supervision and leadership to a remote team of 4 regional Early Learning (EL) Specialists and an instructional designer
Ensure that all team members have the support, tools, resources and structure required to succeed in their role. Facilitate regular training and professional development, provide coaching and performance management, and connect team to resources or colleagues for support
Ensure that programming reflects the priorities of the grant funders and the needs of communities being served
Develop effective recruitment strategies to ensure we are reaching target audiences; engage with secondary and non-traditional reach partners; identify opportunities for increased reach, new and diverse partnerships; support district level and statewide partnerships.
Establish goals and monitor progress toward contract deliverables for reach and programming
Synthesize data, observations and feedback to provide leadership with high-level debriefs of statewide program implementation
Collaborate closely with leadership and program specialists in areas of Policy, Systems, and Environmental (PSE) change, program evaluation and data, curriculum and communications
Contribute to strategic planning for short and long-term program success
Develop a management plan and standard operating procedures to ensure fidelity and quality of implementation. Share best practices
Support budget planning and management
Represent FNP in regional or national workgroups
Travel as necessary within the state of Florida

This is a time-limited, grant funded position.
The FNP State Office is in Gainesville, FL. This position has the option of fully remote work within the State of Florida, and will be expected to periodically travel to Gainesville and other parts of the state.

Expected Salary:
$57,500 salary + TEAMS benefits

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates who meet the minimum requirements are encouraged to apply. Preferred qualifications include:
Background in education, knowledgeable in Early Childhood Education (ECE) frameworks and Florida Early Learning and Development Standards
Masters degree with a focus on education or ECE
Experience with Train the Trainer model and framework
Four to six years of progressively responsible leadership and supervisory experience
Experience with grant-funded programs and/or working with government agencies
Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills
Engaging and comfortable public speaker, presenter, trainer
Ability to remotely coach and mentor a diverse workforce to success
Experience managing projects and overseeing the timely completion of work plans and reports
Extensive experience using technology in your work (MS Office, Teams, Adobe, Canvas)
