About this role

Carrier is a leading provider of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, building controls and automation leading to safer, smarter, sustainable, and high-performance buildings.

Manages multiple departments that includes multiple teams led by managers and/or supervisors in Software Engineering. Develops long-term strategies and operational direction for software engineering activities. Investigates and identifies complex risks, proposes process and product improvements and mitigation activities and influences executive leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a global organization of software and embedded managers and engineers in the development of control products for the Residential and Light Commercial (RLC) product suite for Americas

  • Leadership to manage team(s) of engineers from different geographies

  • Partner with Carrier’s Marketing and Equipment Engineering organizations to define the technology and product roadmaps for future RLC equipment controls

  • Drive technology development to facilitate industry leading new products

  • Establish and drive 5-3-1 year organizational goals for the Controls engineering organization

  • Identify opportunities for platforming, including leveraging the best practices and work done from other teams for faster market delivery

  • Lead organizational staffing strategies, including global footprint strategies

  • Actively participates in the project planning process (e.g. estimates for project plan tasks, resources, completion time, capital requirements, risks, expenses, etc.)

  • Responsible for organizational budget forecasting and tracking

  • Understands the software development life cycle and processes using model based development

  • Comes with an innovative mindset and is a great problem solver

  • Chair product development governance reviews

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement activities related to software development and systems methodologies

  • Works effectively with various engineering functions/disciplines; systems, hardware, validation/reliability, and manufacturing

  • Balances the responsibilities of sustaining, new product development, and advanced technology projects

  • Responsible for multiple NPD and sustenance projects

  • Oversight of people managers (overall all global organization of about 100 engineers)

  • Makes significant contribution to their team by applying their knowledge of HVAC and RLC domain and embedded development discipline

  • Works with limited guidance

  • Closely collaborate with Digital function across Carrier

  • Deep understanding and expertise on Controllers Developing and executing CoE strategies and optimizing operational processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 12+ years of prior management and leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong Business Ethics, Excellent communication, Strategic Leadership, Customer orientation, focus on results, Agility, Analytical Abilities, Innovation, Business Judgment, Forward Thinking, Listening and Teamwork

  • Ability to clearly communicate and influence executive leadership

  • Ability to develop and mentor first level managers

  • Experience working or managing Agile development

  • Department budgeting experience

  • Experience with various connectivity protocols (WiFi, Bluetooth, Z-Wave, Zigbee, etc.)

  • Familiarity with AWS or Azure Cloud and Devops

  • Experience interacting with internal/external customers

  • Experience working with external suppliers
