About the Governor's Summer Internship Program (GSI):
The Governor’s Summer Internship Program (GSI) is designed to give college students real-world, hands-on experience in their desired field of study to enhance marketability upon graduation. Participation in the program will offer students a multitude of experiences including networking with state employees, resume building and soft skills workshops, agency head panels, and much more.

Role Overview:
The Department of Correction is seeking a business-minded individual with data analysis and research skills for a summer 2025 internship. The primary duties of the Project Management intern include utilizing a variety of techniques to interpret results directly related to the impact of training on overall Agency employee retention. The selected candidate will assist with Project Management for the Indiana Department of Correction's Division of Workforce Engagement. The scope of the projects will assist in employee retention, maximize training, and expand technology in the classrooms. Additional duties will include utilizing a variety of techniques to interpret results directly related to the performance of training programs. Those who are currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Criminal Justice, Marketing, Organizational Leadership, Business Management, or other Human Resource/Social Science fields are encouraged to apply.
Salary Statement:
The hourly rate for this position is $16.24 for those who do not hold a bachelor’s degree & $17.24 for those who hold a bachelor’s degree or higher by the time the internship starts.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Provide support to the Workforce Engagement Management Team
Design, develop, implement, and evaluate business solutions
Develop a succession planning process for staff to assist with the retention of employees
Evaluate instructor observation processes and propose recommendations for instructor development. Work with organizational leaders to identify analytical requirements
Work with organizational leaders to identify analytical requirements
Oversee the Project Management forms and track progress
Prepare final report of findings

What You'll Need for Success:
Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate with an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education.
Academic work in related field
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to analyze data sets related to discipline
Ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels
Ability to conduct well-informed research
Ability to solve complex, critical problems
Ability to review and make recommendations on proposed changes to relevant policies and procedures
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
