Role Overview:

You will direct and performs the installation, repair and preventative maintenance of various plumbing systems. Direct a crew of skilled or unskilled employees and/or provide oversight to contractors in the completion of projects for the Joint Forces Headquarters of the Indiana National Guard in Indianapolis. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of a plumbing, heating, water, and sewage systems. Supervise a crew of skilled workers who may be state employees or traditional guardsmen in following general instructions and standard practices of the trade. You may deploy to assist and advise other Building Mangers in the local area in plumbing and related maintenance.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $39,000.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:

The essential functions of this role are as follows:

  • Plan work and determine appropriate equipment to requisition.

  • Estimate needs for maintenance projects.

  • Requisition and secure required equipment, tools, and manpower to complete projects.

  • Inspect grounds, buildings, and equipment to ensure proper plumbing operations.

  • Check all requisitioned equipment to ensure quantity, quality, and specifications.

  • Supervise a crew of skilled plumbers and support laborers assigning work, inspecting it, and providing technical assistance.

  • Schedule work maintain work orders and progress reports and keeps time records.

  • Supervise and participates in installation, maintenance and repair of water, steam, and sewage systems.

  • Ensure that all safety standards and precautions are followed by all subordinate workers.

  • Ensure that all plumbing systems meet regulatory laws.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must meet the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Thorough knowledge of practices, methods and standards of installation and maintenance of plumbing systems.

  • Thorough knowledge in the use of pipe cutters, threaders, reamers, caulking tools, pipe wrenches and plumbing tools.

  • Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards, safety precautions and sanitary regulations of the trade.

  • Ability to lay out, assign, schedule and supervise the work of skilled plumbers.

  • Be willing to travel with reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to perform all duties of a skilled plumber.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:

This role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
