The First Databank (FDB) is currently seeking a Security Operations Engineer who is responsible for monitoring, detecting, and responding to security incidents, ensuring the ongoing protection of First Databank's information assets and infrastructure. This role plays a critical part in the daily operations of our Security Operations Center (SOC), collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze threats, manage incident response, and implement security controls. The ideal candidate will have a proactive mindset toward security and a commitment to safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems.

Position will be based out of the Indianapolis, IN office.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct ongoing security monitoring and threat detection to safeguard the organization's digital assets

  • Respond to security incidents promptly and investigate them thoroughly to minimize potential damage

  • Manage and address vulnerabilities by identifying, assessing, and prioritizing risks

  • Implement effective security controls to protect the organization's systems and data

  • Ensure adherence to compliance requirements and organizational policies related to information security

  • Drive continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the organization to enhance overall security posture

  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide timely support for critical security issues as needed

Required Skills:

  • Ability to excel in high-stress situations, communicating effectively, efficiently, and professionally during incident response

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex security challenges

  • Keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

  • A strong desire and capability to quickly learn and adapt to new skills and technologies

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and contribute to a culture of security awareness and vigilance

Required Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering is highly preferred

  • A minimum of two years of cyber security experience, with a solid understanding of security frameworks, best practices, and tools

  • Hands-on experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and vulnerability management tools

  • Familiarity with incident response processes and best practices

  • Possession of relevant security certifications, such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CISM, is highly desirable

In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in Indianapolis, IN. The reasonable estimate, if hired in Indianapolis, is $105,000.00 - $130,000.00 Please note this information is specific to those hired in location. If this role is open to candidates outside of location, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
