Robert Half Staff Accountant in Indiantown, Florida

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant based in Indiantown, Florida. The successful candidate will be joining our finance team to handle various accounting duties including preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger accounts, and assistance in preparation of financial reports. This job function is integral to our operations and requires a keen understanding of financial systems and processes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare journal entries and fund transfer requests accurately and within set timeframes

• Balance encumbrances, general ledger, and subsidiary ledgers, ensuring all entries are correct and up-to-date

• Reconcile various general ledger accounts to supporting information provided by other departments

• Maintain documents and records associated with various business transactions including financial analyses, statements, and reports

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

• Prepare and assist in preparing financial reports and analysis as required by the management

• Assist in the research, evaluation, and implementation of new Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Statements

• Review accounting documents to ensure accuracy and make correcting entries as required

• Ensure pay applications are in accordance with contract terms; prepare, process, and/or validate pay applications, requisitions, purchase orders, and check requests

• Reconcile vendor statements and pay applications; assist accounts payable with resolving and researching payment issues

• Compile and maintain contract records including project status reports, inspection reports, notices to proceed, change orders, and pay requests. Requirements • Possess a deep understanding of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Well-versed with the process of bank reconciliations

• Proficient in maintaining and managing General Ledger

• Able to prepare and analyze Journal Entries

• Capable of handling Month End Close procedures

• Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Detail-oriented with high level of accuracy in work

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

• Capable of multitasking and meeting tight deadlines

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

• Professional certification such as CPA is a plus

• Previous experience in a similar role is desirable.
