Summary

CHS Inc . has a new opportunity in our Energy division for a Vice President, Refined Fuels & Propane Account Management . As part of the energy leadership team, this role is responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision and direction for the refined fuels and propane account management team with focus on profitability and growth. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Energy Go To Market, this role will be a strategic partner to energy leadership. The successful candidate will be an effective leader who is inspired to motivate a diverse group of employees to work as a team to accomplish strategic goals and drive value for the organization and has a proven track record of driving significant sales growth.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic growth plans for Refined Fuels & Propane Account Management teams to include new programs, methodologies, business systems that support strategic business goals and sales objectives. Formulate and track KPI’s to evaluate overall effectiveness to optimize profitability. 

  • Continually assess existing wholesale refined fuels and propane sales programs to ensure programs remain competitive, adapt to market changes and supports CHS profitability within the dynamic sales marketplace.

  • Lead strategy and execution for profitable growth of unbranded and commercial fuel sales in new geographical markets, while maintaining strong performance in established markets.

  • Represent Refined Fuels & Propane Account Management through involvement and collaboration with CHS enterprise-wide initiatives.  Build and maintain positive working relations with industry groups, key customers, and other CHS Inc. business units including Ag Retail partners working closely with our RESS group. 

  • Responsible for the operational financial performance of the businesses, resource allocation, budgeting, capital planning and expenditures.  

  • Demonstrate leadership by establishing a culture of high engagement that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement. Responsible for professional development of employees and creating a talent pipeline and succession plan.   

  • Champion and promote a strong safety culture and follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations; identify and communicate workplace hazards; correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions in the workplace. 

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Bachelors degree in business, ag business, economics, marketing or other related field

  • 12+ years of relevant experience with increasing levels of responsibility

  • Experience in the energy or agriculture industry

Additional Qualifications

  • Refined fuels, propane, or lubricants experience preferred

  • Proven sales track record

  • Strong understanding of cash and futures markets and basic refinery production and economies

  • A knowledge base of government refined fuels and energy regulations including anti-trust and price discrimination law

  • Experience executing large, multi-functional, and cross-organizational assignments, making strategic decisions and influencing leaders to adopt best practices

  • Demonstrated skills in organization, leadership, team building, entrepreneurial orientation, innovation and excellent oral and written communication and negotiations

  • Capital project development and project management experience

  • Fiscal responsibility for controlling business expenses and financial performance

  • Knowledge in developing a strategy to prioritize employee engagement for current and new leadership within the organization

  • Petroleum experience is preferred

  • SAP system knowledge is desirable

Physical Requirements

  • Travel up to 25%

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
