Aston Carter Buyer Planner in Irvine, California

Job Title: Buyer IIJob Description

A Buyer II is responsible for purchasing current and newly designed products, assuring lowest cost, on-time delivery, and processing non-conforming products. The Buyer II will maintain ERP data supporting production, analyze data, recognize trends, and develop strategies to meet company costs and supply requirements. This role requires decision-making abilities in problem-solving, reasoning, creativity, and analysis. The Buyer II will also initiate and process Purchase Orders as defined by MRP and the Planning team, ensure suppliers adhere to pricing and lead time, and work with cross-functional teams to address receiving, inspection, and inventory issues. Additionally, the Buyer II will track and manage backorders, identify opportunities for savings, manage tracking metrics for buyers and suppliers, and utilize Excel for forecasting. The role may eventually involve working with the NPI team and handling purchasing for 2-3 product lines with 150-250 SKUs. The Buyer II will be responsible for negotiating the price of raw materials with current vendors, including some international suppliers, and occasionally working with ports and customs.

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Irvine, California.

Work Environment

Medical device production facility with an office. Must be comfortable walking the manufacturing floor. Standard hours 8-5 with some flexibility to start earlier or later (7:30 or 9 am). The team covers 2-3 product lines with around 250 SKUs. The position requires managing a high-stress environment and supporting various departments including production, sales, and engineering.
