This position will require a CNC Machinist who can fabricate parts or components through turning operations. This individual will be required to read and interpret blueprints, understand sketches, and work instructions to determine the precise specifications, dimensions, and tolerance levels of a finished product. The L2 must be able to set-up a job on a CNC machine, service, and maintain equipment to ensure efficient and safe operations. Additionally, the L2 must be able to utilize precision measuring instruments to check the accuracy and quality of machined parts. The L2 Machinist will also perform high-level training for employees on initial set up and machine operability. L2’s will assist the Supervisor in the completion of first article inspections to ensure quality standards are met, monitor, and promote all safety best practices and policies

This is a weekend day shift where you will work from 6am to 7pm (including lunch and breaks) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. You will train Monday-Friday from 6am to 2:30pm.

Position Essential Functions Include but Are Not Limited To:

  • Functions at an intermediate level within the machining department and can operate multiple machines on one shift.

  • Performs in process inspection of machined products (including documentation of results).

  • Completes and maintains paperwork for parts

  • Completes secondary operations i.e., deburr, polish, etc. in cycle time per print and process.

  • Set-up, operate, and develop jobs and production operations, as well as 1 st articles and adjustments.

  • Participates in root cause analysis and corrective action.

  • Possesses the ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications, as well as sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations and/or set up requirements.

  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts the machine controls or control media, as necessary.

  • Possesses the ability to provide solutions and alternatives to meet efficiency, productivity, and utilization goals.

  • Maintains the machine and environment at safe and clean condition.

  • Performs total productive machine maintenance, has knowledge and ability to make minor repairs and perform preliminary troubleshooting activities

  • Familiarity of G and M Codes in CNC Machining.

  • Perform other duties and assignments as assigned in accordance with established Company mission and values.

Basic Required Qualifications: (Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience will be considered) :

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in CNC precision machining.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience with root cause analysis, lean manufacturing, aerospace material, engineering/quality specifications, and programming capabilities.

Essential Skills & Abilities:

  • Intermediate level in turning operations on CNC equipment and inspection methods using calipers, height/depth gauges, dial indicators and granite tables.

  • Knowledge in cutting tools and materials, fixture to machine relationships, and set-up.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Familiar with Statistical Process Control (SPC), such as plotting graphs, upper and lower control limits and understanding out of control conditions.

  • Provides consistent ideas for process improvements.

  • Works under moderate supervision.

Our Total Rewards program and options available to an employee may vary depending on multiple factors, including location and hire date. Hourly pay rates are based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Hourly pay rate: L2- $25 to $30 per hour

L3- $28 to $34 per hour
