Job Summary:
As an Engineer I at RailPros, you will be instrumental in supporting the design and development of our infrastructure. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals passionate about transportation engineering and seeking to kickstart their career. You will gain valuable design experience and develop foundational skills. This role involves applying established techniques and procedures to perform assigned tasks and offers the chance to acquire practical knowledge in a supportive environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Structural Design Support: Assist in the design and analysis of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other transportation-related structures under the guidance of senior engineers.
Plan Preparation: Prepare engineering drawings, plans, and specifications using software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
Calculations and Modeling: Perform basic structural calculations and create models to ensure compliance with AREMA, AASHTO, and other relevant standards.
Field Inspections: Participate in site visits and inspections to collect data, verify existing conditions, and support construction activities.
Collaboration: Work closely with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated designs and solutions.
Documentation: Assist in preparing technical reports, calculations, and project documentation for review and submission.
Learning and Development: Continuously develop knowledge of railway engineering principles, structural design codes, and project workflows.
Compliance: Ensure that all assigned tasks meet safety standards, project specifications, and client requirements.
Software Proficiency: Use industry-standard tools, such as AutoCAD, Microstation, or other structural analysis software, to support project tasks.
Support Construction Teams: Provide technical assistance during construction, including reviewing shop drawings and addressing field issues as directed.
Other Duties: Perform additional tasks as required to meet business needs.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Proficiency in CAD software (MicroStation) preferred but not required.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
No experience required.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience as an engineering intern in a related field.
Experience producing drawings with CAD software.
Additional Qualifications:
EIT (Engineer in Training) preferred.
Additional Compensation: Based on qualifications and experience , the salary range for this position is $68,000 - $72,000 per year .
