Responsibilities

  • Oversight of all inventory and cost accounting activities

  • Manage the cost and inventory accounting department.

  • Ensure that inventory balances are properly stated in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.

  • Review bills of materials to ensure that they were prepared properly and that the BOM accurately represents the actual product produced.

  • Supervise cost and inventory accountants.

  • Lead and assist with month-end closings (JV approval, JV control, JV entries, reconciliations, and reporting).

  • Point of contact for all questions relating to actual and standard costs.

  • Provide accounting analysis support for manufacturing, product management, and product maintenance.

  • Development of standard cost rates for labor, materials, and overhead with Department Managers

  • Compare standard costs to actual costs and periodically update costs in Oracle.

  • Investigate variances between actual and standard costs.

  • Manage timely updates of product costs.

  • Provide analytical support to operations.

  • Leadership/Supervisory

  • Lead and assist on special projects as required.

  • Supervises, trains and mentors employees.

  • Lead and assist in the preparation of company forecasts and budgets.

  • Works with the accounting team to ensure a timely profit and loss statement closing and preparation of reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.

  • Educate employees and managers on accounting principles and reasons for the implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley regulation.

  • Analyze accounting processes, expenses, and recommend improvements to efficiency.

  • Internal and external audits.

  • KPMG and external reporting preparation for review.

  • Internal audits with MECA/MEI

  • Includes schedule preparation, process updates etc.

  • Policies and procedures.

  • Continuously review operational processes and make recommendations to improve efficiencies and control costs.

  • Makes recommendations to management to improve operating efficiencies and to strengthen internal controls.

The salary range of $98,000 – $165,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting. MBA (Finance or Accounting) or CPA a plus.

  • Prior supervisory, team lead, or project leader experience.

  • 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment with cost accounting experience.

  • Proven success managing a cost accounting department and implementing policies and procedures to improve processes.

  • Oracle systems experience.

  • Proficient in the use of MS office suite of software applications i.e. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Proficient in the use of Oracle, and related reporting tools.

  • Ability to multi-task and apply priority to projects with adaptability and urgency while meeting timelines.

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with employees/management and ability to read situations and apply diplomacy and tact in communications needed to perform duties.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to provide insight and creative suggestions when pursuing special projects.

  • Expertise in the Development and maintenance of complex spreadsheets and databases.

  • Possess the capability of coming up with solutions to most problem situations in the finance area and/or knows where to go to get solutions.

  • Possess good organization skills and is willing to put forth the effort to complete projects and duties on a timely basis.

  • Understanding of the bigger picture.

  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules and goals.

  • Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s).

  • Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.

  • Paid time off: Exempt Salaried employees receive flexible paid time off. This means that there is no fixed number, range, or limit to the amount of Personal and Vacation Days that may be taken for exempt employees. Non-exempt hourly employees accrue 14 vacation days per year + 7 sick days + 3 personal days. Accrual rate increases with tenure. All employees receive 11 company paid holidays per year. We also close our offices at the corporate level in the U.S. between Christmas and New Year. For operational positions that are expected to work on holidays, we provide additional compensation for hours worked.
