Job Description

As a Scientist I/II in Drug Delivery Sciences (DDS), you will be responsible for managing lab operations and performing hands-on formulation and analytical experiments to support the development of novel drug delivery systems. You will oversee the management of select agent toxin (SAT) sample inventory, equipment, and general lab operation in a highly regulated environment. You will train and ensure the team’s compliance regarding SAT policies and procedures and interact with key partners (e.g., EH&S, IT, Procurement, etc). You will also collaborate with a talented, multidisciplinary, and cross-functional team to build cutting-edge new delivery capabilities.

The ideal candidate is highly motivated and organized, with excellent communication and collaboration skills, and proficient in laboratory techniques related to formulation development.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage lab operations including management of SAT sample inventory, ordering and maintenance of equipment, procurement of supplies.

  • Provide training and ensure a safe, organized, and operational laboratory environment

  • Ensure DDS member’s compliance with SAT policies and electronic documentation

  • Handle project expense tracking and basic contract management including liaising with Procurement and Legal

  • Perform lab work (formulation and analytical) to support the development of novel drug delivery systems for large molecules.

  • Learn and effectively implement new instruments.

  • Participate and contribute to team meetings.

Qualifications

  • Scientist I: A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field with 5 or more years of related experience or a master’s degree with 2 or more years of related experience

  • Scientist II: A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field with 7 or more years of related experience or a master’s degree with 5 or more years of related experience

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Experience in an R&D and GLP laboratory environment

  • Experience and comfort working with complex software database

  • Experience with documentation of laboratory and audit activities

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and planning skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to problem-solve and accept ownership for implementing change

  • Laboratory experimental skills and knowledge of techniques and instrumentations used in pharmaceutical formulation or characterization.

  • A desire and capacity to learn, drive continuous improvement, and operate in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
