Amazon Games is seeking a highly effective Senior Game Developer - AI/ML to build and integrate innovative AI systems and tools into our game pipelines and customer experiences. Our mission to be the most customer obsessed video game company requires exploration into these cutting-edge tools to improve the quality and quantity of fun gameplay for our players; while ensuring their ethical and responsible implementation.

Our team of game industry veterans develops AAA multiplayer games and original IPs, with teams in Seattle, Orange County, San Diego, Montreal, and Bucharest. Amazon Games, through its Studios, Publishing, and Prime Gaming divisions collaborating with external partners, aims to develop, publish, and deliver compelling AAA games and content experiences for gamers to discover.

Key job responsibilities

  • Implement libraries and middleware for advanced ML and AI use cases using a combination of cloud services and embedded models provided by our scientists.

  • Collaborate with game teams—directly embedding when required—to deliver the generative AI & ML features their game designs require.

About the team

The Amazon Games Studio AI Research team focuses on artificial intelligence innovation in gaming. Our highly skilled, multi-discipline team works across Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning, and Generative AI to reimagine game development. We work closely with first-party game developers and partner studios to bring creative visions to life. Our mission is to use AI responsibly to transform gameplay experiences, enrich narratives, and provide creators with practical tools to optimize their production pipelines.

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • Experience with Unity, Unreal, CryEngine, Lumberyard or proprietary 3D game engine, or industry-equivalent technology (3D animation, simulation, etc)

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Proficiency in C+- 1+ year of AI/ML integrations in games.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.) and integrating them into game engines

  • Experience with RL, DRL, and distributed ML architectures

  • Experience with designing and deploying services and products that leverage generative AI models

  • Experience with cloud-based AI services and their integration into game systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
