Caterpillar Defense currently has an opening for a Federal Civilian Agency (FCA) Account Manager located in Dallas, Texas. As the FCA Account Manager, you will work with U.S. Government acquisition and end-user communities to market and promote Caterpillar machine solutions, products, and services. This position provides account manager coverage for direct machine sales to key FCA customers that positively impacts delivery of the annual business plan and enables Caterpillar’s profitable growth while meeting the contractual obligations of our U.S. federal government customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with U.S. Government customers, Cat dealers, suppliers, functional areas within Caterpillar Defense, and across product groups of every Machine Business Division to develop Caterpillar solutions that maximize sales, profits, and customer satisfaction as well as market Caterpillar products and services.

  • Execute the entire sales process from account planning, capture planning, sales forecasts, developing proposals, preparing quotes, bidding on competitive solicitations, and managing opportunities in the sales funnel using Salesforce CRM through contract award and award hand off.

  • Support award hand off to the order-to-delivery processes that achieve the annual business plan and meet the contractual obligations of federal government customers while mitigating enterprise risk.

  • Provide account management support across assigned Federal Civilian Agencies, including the Department of Agriculture, U.S. Forest Service, Department of Justice, Department of Veterans Affairs, independent agencies including NASA, Tennessee Valley Authority, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. Agency for International Development, National Science Foundation, and other relevant U.S. Government organizations, federal agencies and contractors that support the mission.

  • Perform complex and challenging assignments to support Caterpillar Defense engaging FCA customers, assisting with business strategies & marketing plans, trade shows, industry events, and customer visits/demonstrations that enable strategic growth opportunities.

  • Shape FCA customer engagements and influence the development of new requirement specifications for Caterpillar machine products with key U.S. Government customers.

  • Satisfy Caterpillar Defense’s internal and external contractual and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Provide guidance on existing and potential FCA customer service issues and improvement measures.

What You Will Have:

  • Analyze FCA customer applications and product configurations to develop machine solutions that will meet end-user needs

  • Foster strong customer relationships via delivery on commitments, open communication, and on-going feedback/improvement.

Industry Knowledge : Machine product knowledge, construction equipment and MHE industry trends, directions, major issues, regulatory considerations; ability to apply industry knowledge appropriately to diverse situations. Level: Working Knowledge.

  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of machine products and customer application expertise.

  • Analyzes and communicates industry trends and competitive landscape to leadership.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking : Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment. Level: Working Knowledge:

  • Performs complex analysis work, assessing risks, benefits and consideration of alternatives.

Effective Communications : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Level: Working Knowledge:

Negotiating: Knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully internally and externally with vendors & customers in a constructive and collaborative manner. Level: Extensive Experience.

Top Candidates will also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Marketing or Business-related curriculum with over 2 years to 5 years prior experience in account management or equivalent experience is desired.

  • Caterpillar machine product knowledge and customer application expertise is strongly desired.

  • Extremely strong communication and leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead increasingly more complex assignments to provide direction and guidance to teammates and less experienced personnel on project assignments.

  • Must be willing to travel (25% to 33%)
