Citigroup Country Risk Senior Analyst, AVP in Irving, Texas
The Global Country Risk team within Banking and International Risk is seeking a Country Limits and Cross-Border Risk Analyst at the AVP (C12) level who will support efforts to manage country limits and cross-border risk in Citi. Cross-border risk is defined as the risk of the non-US government’s actions impairing Citi’s ability to obtain payment on a claim, or to access the firm’s investment in a branch or subsidiary. These non-US government actions may include exchange controls and/or restrictions on the remittance of funds or goods.
Responsibilities :
Help to appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Coordinate country annual Country and Franchise Reviews, and Country Risk Counsel processes, including deck preparation, scheduling concluding calls, documenting meeting minutes, collecting and filing the approvals for audit trail purposes.
Respond to cross-border limit approval requests, for assigned countries, from country franchises and global businesses by preparing analytics and developing recommendations for Head of Country Limits.
Appropriately engage with business and risk managers, including Regional Cluster Heads, in discussions on cross-border related topics (incl. regulatory reserves preparation).
Participate in Cross-Border Risk Policy review and other governance documents, including conducting of periodic revisions of Cross-Border Product Programs.
Provide support and help timely address cross-border related inquiries, including the oversight and close involvement in reporting aspects of cross-border, notional, stress loss and risk capital exposures, for assigned countries.
Proactively propose recommendations on changes in country limits (including cross-border, notional, stress loss and risk capital limits), triggered by deteriorated risk profile of the country (reflected in sovereign ratings / Watchlist classification), monitor performance against previously set triggers.
Help to enhance analytical tools to support country limits approval processes.
Participate in various projects related to country limits and cross-border risk.
Stay updated on key macroeconomic and political changes in assigned countries and participate in discussions on potential changes in internal country Watchlist classifications, ratings and rating outlook.
Qualifications :
5 to 8 years of experience in banking/risk management position (basic knowledge of credit risk, credit-/market-based products extended to wholesale corporate clients is preferred).
Self-motivated, team oriented and organized.
Ability to perform individually assigned tasks/meet deadlines without additional supervision.
Good communication skills in order to negotiate internally and externally, including with senior management stakeholders.
Project management and multitasking skills, as well as experience in effectively assessing and managing competing priorities is an advantage.
Comfort navigating complex, highly-matrixed organizations.
Education :
Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration or related fields.
MBA, CPA, or CFA (is an advantage).
