Job Summary

Internal Audit helps the business assess risks and test the design and operating effectiveness of the controls used to manage them. We are an independent, objective organization that helps the Company accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control processes.

The SOX Business Process group performs risk assessments and related testing of varied business processes across the system to support the overall compliance efforts of Vistra Corp, including those of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, as well as performs special projects as requested by executive leadership and the Board of Directors.

Job Description

As an Audit Intern, you will assist the department in identifying and evaluating risks through assigned projects, executing work programs to determine the design and operating effectiveness of business processes, and reporting the results to leaders throughout the company. These efforts may include assessments across multiple business processes within the company.

• You will develop skills to enhance your understanding of risks and the implications to the broader organization through:

• Collecting and analyzing data and information effectively.

• Preparing and maintaining audit work papers pertinent to the audit’s scope and objectives.

• Comprehending the meaning of test results as they relate to internal control strengths and weaknesses.

• Adapting to and using techniques to improve the effectiveness of assignments, increase efficiencies, and quickly complete work objectives.

Additional projects may be assigned based on the skill and experience level of the intern.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

• Candidates must be currently enrolled in a fulltime Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree program with a major in Accounting or business related field.

• Minimum of Junior level by hours (60+) at the start of the internship.

• Ability to communicate in a tactful and courteous manner to convey a mature, common-sense approach and attitude, using verbal and written skills.

​Ability to apply professional judgment sufficient to handle and resolve tasks.

• Possess general PC skills and be able to use Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint); advanced capabilities (i.e. Pivot Tables, complex data analysis, and graphics production) are desired.

• Experience with SOX control testing and auditing a plus.

• Experience with data analytics/data visualization a plus.

• Familiarity with major industry frameworks a plus.
