Heidelberg Materials is seeking a qualified Tax Analyst to join our team in Irving, Texas.

What you’ll get to do

  • Assist with the preparation of the consolidated federal income tax return. This includes soliciting information from various parties, preparing supporting workpapers and maintaining the tax compliance software.

  • Assist with the preparation of state income and franchise tax returns, extensions, and estimated payments utilizing tax compliance software. Assist with the preparation of state apportionment workpapers.

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end IAS 12/ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes) financial reporting. This may include any or all of the following: soliciting information from various parties, calculating the appropriate income tax expense and liability amounts, and preparing rate reconciliation calculations.

  • Assist with the preparation of tax reporting packages to be sent to the ultimate parent company of the U.S. group.

  • Maintain general knowledge of current federal and state income tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of tax saving strategies at the U.S. federal and state levels.

  • Assist with federal, state and local income and franchise tax audits, appeals and litigation for the U.S. group.

  • Assist with tax due diligence for US acquisitions, dispositions and reorganizations.

  • Support the Canadian Corporate Tax Group.

  • Provide technical assistance and support to field personnel as necessary to help with federal and state franchise and income, sales, use and other types of state and local tax issues.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • B.S. / B.A. in Accounting

  • Masters in Taxation desirable but not required

  • Qualified to sit for the CPA exam preferred or Certified Public Accountant

  • Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in a tax department (public accounting or industry)

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written

  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills with attention to details

  • Requires excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Office, SAP experience helpful
