Intern
The Intern gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry by attending meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, and working closely with cross-functional groups to better understand the organization. Over the 10-week summer internship program, this job participates in a robust training and onboarding program followed by an ongoing speaker series, lunch-and-learns, and cohort engagement activities. This job may have the opportunity to work in the follow business areas: Technology, Asset Management, Financial Analysis/Accounting, Audit, Risk and Compliance, Human Resources and Advice and Client Relationships.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Performs clerical duties such as taking memos, organizing documents, maintaining files, photocopying, faxing, etc. as needed
Assists in preparing information and research materials, including Powerpoint presentations.
Takes notes during meetings and provides to team members.
Researches and gathers documentation as directed by colleagues.
Attends company functions, including trainings programs, speaker series, lunch-and-learns and social networking events that provide opportunities for career growth and personal development.
Shadows multiple office jobs and trains in a variety of tasks.
Gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry
Minimum 3.0 GPA required

The 10-week summer internship program is designed to challenge students by providing opportunities for hand-on experiences, skills training and valuable professional networking to assist students with identifying and building on their career interests. This role gains experience and an overall feel for the company and the financial services industry by attending meetings, delivering presentations, exploring business-specific tasks, and working closely with cross-functional groups to better understand the TIAA and Nuveen’s businesses.
Managers and colleagues will work side by side with summer associates to ensure development and learning. Students can expect to gain an understanding of TIAA and the Financial Services industry, as well as have opportunities to explore various technology tools, techniques, and disciplines. The program includes a robust onboarding week followed by our ongoing speaker series, development and engagement activities, as well as direct access to executive and senior leadership, mentors and previous interns.
Eligible summer associates will have the opportunity to apply for a full-time position in the highly competitive entry-level Technical Associate Program within Client Services & Technology (CS&T).
Internship Areas
Corporate Technology Chief Data & AI - as part of the newly merged Corporate Technology, Data and AI Office, Technical Associates will have the unique opportunity to explore a wide range of technology and data-driven applications while making a tangible impact across TIAA. An ideal candidate is passionate about technology, data, and artificial intelligence, has strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, is eager to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with an interest in exploring different aspects of technology and data-driven innovation. Key Responsibilities:
Gain hands-on experience in areas such as data analysis, data engineering, software development, business analysis, project management, cloud, AI and machine learning.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement technology solutions that support corporate functions such as finance, actuarial, HR, legal, risk and compliance.
Contribute to the development and deployment of advanced data analytics and AI models to solve business problems.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on the latest industry trends and technology advancements.
Technology Interns have the unique opportunity to select a specific “track” to focus on during their internship with us. This includes the Analyst track and Engineer Track.
Analyst:
Summer associates in the Analyst track leverage and further develop their skills in analysis and reporting, working alongside colleagues and Senior Leadership to further TIAA's understanding of structure, policies and to achieve its goals. You will directly contribute to solutions which support sound decision-making. The recommendations you provide will drive achievement of TIAA's technology goals.
Specific responsibilities may include monitoring & implementation of dedicated measures in Info Security, requirements gathering & documentation, financial oversight & control, portfolio management, business performance measurement, process management, and data analysis from various sources.
Engineer:
Summer associates in the Engineer track provide operations support for capture & distribution, processing, quality processes and problem resolution. Your focus would be on ensuring data integrity in systems and adherence to internal and external standards and quality checks. Your skills would further develop as you focus your talents in providing critical support in hardware, software, data or infrastructure components within a specific domain.
Summer associates in this area may also provide support with automation modernization by learning, adopting new tools, and technologies that help applications to scale up. You would work as part of a project team, communicating progress, technical issue reporting, resolution and deployment to production of completed code.
Additional Requirements:
Must be a 2025 ASU Hackathon first place winner.
Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
Expected Graduation date between December 2025– June 2027
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Desired Skills:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Data Science, Cyber-Security, Engineering and/or Operations Management, and any other STEM-related degree.
Knowledge of Agile methodology
Extracurricular program participation in major-related areas
Excellent problem solving/analytical skills/critical thinking
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and deliver on commitments
Up to date with technology trends and current affairs
Desire to continuously learn and build professional development skills
Willingness to embrace change and collaborate to foster team success
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook)
If Interested in the Analyst track:
Knowledge of SQL, Tableau, Advanced Excel, Jira, Archer, MS tool Suite, Robotics, Machine learning
Knowledge of SAS, R, or Matlab and working with statistics
If Interested in the Engineer track:
Knowledge of Splunk, AWS, Java, Python, Angular, Azure, IOS, Script/Coding (Javascript, C#, C++, Python, R, PowerShell)
Knowledge of Mobile OS, networking, mainframe technologies
Knowledge of Azure Cloud deployments using Azure AD, PowerApps, AI& ML using PowerAutomate, .NET WebApps, Kubernates, Data Bricks, Azure SQL, PostGreSQL and/or MicroServices
Knowledge of Microsoft (C#.Net, WPF, WCF, .Net Core)

Base Pay Range: $18.75/hr. - $27.40/hr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
