Medical Record Auditor

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Medical Record Auditor to assist in the services we provide to hospital staff, clinicians, clients, referring veterinarians and college staff. The individual must thrive in a changing environment with the desire to work in a place that strongly values compassion and professional mentorship of students and clinicians around the completion of medical records.


The job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review and complete medical record audits, documentation scanning and data input integrity.
  • Communicate with clinicians regarding record deficiencies and the importance of ensuring finalized charts are available to clients and referring veterinarians.
  • Team-oriented communication and collaboration with peers as needed.
  • Proactive recommendations to improve department workflows and responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma with up to 2 years of relevant experience working in a medical office environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work within a team and perform with minimum supervision
  • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other productivity tools
  • Analytical intelligence and problem solving.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and strong attention to details.
  • Strong priority setting and time management.
  • Demonstrates professionalism with hospital staff, clinicians, clients, referring veterinarians and college staff.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a medical office setting
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Important Details about the Position

  • This is a fully remote and part-time position which can be done anywhere in New York State
  • We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship, now or in the future, for this position.
  • Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.

While the regular business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, the specific schedule may change to meet the needs of the business, requiring employees to work early mornings, evenings, weekends and University holidays and scheduled breaks.
