Safety Security Facilities Officer - Riverhead, NY

Under the direction of the Association HR Manager, this position has the primary responsibility for main office building grounds and physical facilities to ensure the safety of our employees and visitors. The Safety/Security/Facilities Officer is responsible for:
Enforcing company safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe environment by performing access control duties, ensuring only authorized personnel enter buildings and facilities.
Issuing employee ID cards, building access cards, and keys when new employees are hired.
Collecting ID cards, building access cards and keys upon employee departure from the association.
Monitoring surveillance equipment and responding to any suspicious activity promptly.
Patrolling the premises to identify and address security risks.
Responding to security and safety incidents, and taking appropriate actions during emergencies, such as evacuations, first aid, or contacting law enforcement or emergency services as needed.
Completing incident reports and providing accurate information for investigations.
Preparing the main office facility in Riverhead for meetings, rentals, and facility events. Setting up/breaking down and coordinating facility needs with HRD or designated staff/volunteers.
Overseeing the company's vehicle fleet.
Providing quality telephone reception service and serving as a member of the association support staff team that provides clerical/administrative support to the overall Association and educators as needed.
Answering the telephone daily, directing calls to appropriate staff, and providing overall customer service for the Association.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree plus experience relevant to the role of the position. High School diploma/GED plus 1 year transferrable program/functional experience may substitute.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Experience with windows-based software, including the internet and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel.
  • Ability to plan and organize personal work responsibilities according to priorities developed with immediate supervisor.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of integrity, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and assume responsibility with general guidelines and direction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal, written, and visual channels using traditional methods and educational tools and electronic technology (e.g., video, audio, computers, etc.).
  • Ability to effectively participate in professional team efforts.
  • Ability to relate effectively to co-workers, advisors, community, and professional leaders.
  • Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with NYS Archives Department requirements.
  • Familiarity with Safety/Security protocols in educational setting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and Zoom.

POSITION DETAILS:

Salary: $30 per hour

Hour: 20 hours per week
